VIDEO: Galway Downs International Horse Trials

By USEA

The Galway Downs International Horse Trials outdid itself on the weekend of March 26-28. Not only did it host a record number of entries in the Adequan USEA Gold Cup Series CIC3* division, it successfully ran on a modified schedule where competitors performed dressage and show jumping on Friday, and concluded with cross-country on Saturday in reverse order of standing. Some riders embraced the change, some still remain on the fence. Many competitors on the west coast expressed their excitement for the fall CCI3*, scheduled to take place at Galway Downs in November.

CIC3* rider Frankie Thieroit was also there to help us get the inside scoop with Rolex-bound riders, chat with cross-country course designer Ian Stark about what he’ll do for the CCI3* course this fall, and speak with organizer Robert Kellerhouse about the weekend’s schedule change and the Fall Three-Day. Plus, a course walk with Ian Stark. All this will be in the next issue of Eventing USA 2.0, The Rolex Kentucky Preview Issue, which will be published a week before Rolex.
