Area Championships

2024 USEA Area Championships

REQUIREMENTS FOR ALL

    1. All Area Championship competitors must be current USEA Members.
    2. All qualifying competitions must be USEA registered horse trials, three-day events or CIs.
    3. Divisions must have five or more starters to count as qualifying competitions.
    4. No horse may compete in more than one championship in a calendar year. This restriction does not include the AEC or any national championship. (Withdrawn by USEA Board of Governors May 18, 2023, no longer in effect).

    5. Beginner Novice divisions will not count as qualifiers for the Novice division.
    6. List the qualifying competitions on the entry form.

    NOTE: Whips are not permitted to be carried in the Dressage Test at USEF/USEA Championships or USEA Area Championship divisions.


    AREA I

    (Preliminary, Training, Novice, Beginner Novice and Starter)

    GENESEE VALLEY RIDING & DRIVING CLUB, AUGUST 17-18, 2024
    Placing to Qualify:
    1st thru 3rd at one Event, includes amateur placing.

    Qualifying Period: 8/01/2023 – 7/30/2024

    In Area: Starter, BN, N, T Any Area: P
    Placing 1-5 at the 2023 Championships counts as a qualifier.

    AREA II

    (Intermediate, Preliminary, Training, Novice, Beginner Novice, and Starter)

    The Maryland Horse Trials at lock Moy Farm October 4-6, 2024

    Qualifying Period: September 20, 2023 through September 17, 2024

    AREA III

    Open Intermediate (OI-CH), Open Preliminary (OP-CH), Open Modified (OM-CH), Training Rider and Training Horse (TR-CH & TH-CH), Novice Rider and Novice Horse (NR-CH & NH-CH), Beginner Novice Rider and Beginner Novice Horse (BNR & BNH) and Starter Rider

    Bouckaert Equestrian Horse Trials, June 28-30, 2024 (previously known as Chattahoochee Hills)

    Qualifying Period BN-I: June 13, 2023 to June 11, 2024 Starter Level Qualifying Period: December 1, 2023 - June 11, 2024

    Placing to Qualify:
    Starter - Preliminary: 1st thru 5th at one event with no cross-country jump penalties.

    Intermediate: Completion of a minimum of 2 events (Intermediate HT or 3*) with no cross- country penalties.

    Open to members of other Areas but non-residents must qualify within Area III.

    AREA IV

    (Preliminary, Modified, Training, Novice and Beginner Novice)

    Windermere Run Horse Trials, October 18-20, 2024

    Placing to Qualify: 1st thru 5th at one Event.

    Qualifying Period: 9/12/23 – 10/01/2024

    Any Area with Caveat: Must compete in at least one Area IV horse Trial during the qualifying period.

    Only open to residents or declared residents of Area IV.

    AREA V

    (Novice, Beginner Novice and Starter)

    Meadowcreek Park H.T - Fall Social Event, Sep 21 - 22, 2024

    Qualifying Period: 10/17/2023 – 9/3/2024

    (Preliminary, Training, Modified)

    Texas Rose Horse Park H.T., Nov 2 - 3, 2024

    Qualifying Period: 10/17/2023 – 10/15/2024

    Placing to Qualify: Must place 1st through 5th at the same level of the championships in a qualifying division of a USEA recognized horse trial within Area V. Qualifying ride must have five or more starters in the division.

    AREA VI

    (Starter, BN, Novice, Training, Modified, Preliminary, Intermediate 3L, and Advanced 4L)

    GALWAY DOWNS INTERNATIONAL & H.T., October 30 - November 3, 2024

    Qualifying Period: 11/4/2023- 10/22/2024

    Area VI Championships are open to any rider from any area. They can qualify in their area and compete in the Area VI championships.

    Qualify: Complete two events at the level you are qualifying for.

    All divisions will have Rider and Open

    AREA VII

    (Intermediate, Preliminary, Training, Novice, and Beginner Novice) will be held at Aspen Farms September 13-15th

    (Starter and Modified) Spokane Sport Horse September 27-29th

    Placing to Qualify: 1st thru 5th at one Area VII Event.
    Qualifying Period: August 29, 2023 through September 3rd, 2024.

    AREA VIII

    (Preliminary, Modified, Training, Novice, Beginner Novice and Starter)

    JUMP START H.T., SEPTEMBER 27-29, 2024

    Placing to Qualify: 1st thru 5th in Area.
    Riders must be members of USEA Area 8 as determined by their address of record with the USEA or declaration of Area. Placings earned through the USEA Amateur Upgrade Policy will count as a placing requirement.
    To compete for the Adult and Young Riders awards competitors must be a member of the Area 8 Adult Rider or Area 8 Young Rider program no later than opening date for entries.

    AREA IX

    (Preliminary, Modified, Training, Novice and Beginner Novice, Starter)

    THE EVENT AT ARCHER, AUGUST 16-18, 2024
    Qualifying Period: 8/19/2023 - 8/02/2024

    1. All entries must be submitted by the posted closing date of the show.
    2. Rider and Horse must qualify as a pair.
    3. Starter through Prelim Level Qualifications: 1st through 5th at one USEA recognized event with a minimum of 5 starters.
    4. Completion at any level must meet the USEF definition of a MER to qualify for championships.
    Area IX Members may qualify in any area, but they must have competed in at least one USEA recognized event within Area IX during the qualifying time period, although it does not need to be on the horse they are showing in the Championships.
    5. Open to members of other areas but non- Area IX riders must qualify within Area IX.
