The USEA would like to feature your IEL team! The USEA Interscholastic Eventing League (IEL) is in its first year and currently has 82 registered teams from every USEA area and 46 events hosting an interscholastic team challenge.
With the growing popularity in this new program, the USEA would like to include an IEL team spotlight series on the USEA website and the USEA social media. This spotlight series will be similar to the USEA Intercollegiate Spotlight series that was run in early 2020.
For IEL teams who want to be featured, please have the team representative submit a short article to [email protected] that highlights the team and team members. Below are several questions to consider addressing in the article.
**Please keep the article under 1,200 words, please attach at least one photo, and please make sure to include the author’s name.
About the USEA Interscholastic Eventing League
In August 2020, the USEA Board of Governors approved the creation of the USEA Interscholastic Eventing League (IEL) as an official program of the USEA. The mission of IEL is to bring together junior riders who are in the 7-12th grade and provide a supportive community through which students can continue to pursue their riding interests. A group of junior members in the 7th-12th grade who share a common bond (same barn, same school, same Pony Club, etc.) register with the USEA as an interscholastic team. The spirit of eventing was strong during the opening ceremonies on Friday afternoon at the 2024 USEA Intercollegiate and Interscholastic Eventing Championships. Just shy of 200 Intercollegiate and Interscholastic competitors lined up in the main arena at this year's host venue, Stable View in Aiken, South Carolina, while chanting fight songs, waving team flags, donning mascot costumes, and more, all in celebration of this year's championships officially getting under way.
The "happiest horse trial on Earth" is set to kick off tomorrow, Friday, May 3, at Stable View in Aiken, South Carolina, where 18 colleges and universities and eight Interscholastic Eventing League (IEL) Clubs will parade their teams through the main arena to mark the official start of the 2024 USEA Intercollegiate & Interscholastic Eventing Championships!
Earlier this week, Kent Horse Trials announced its cancellation after 44 years, and as a result, Larkin Hill Horse Trials, which will be held June 29-30 in North Chatham, New York, has stepped up to offer more divisions to help competitors.
