The new FEH 4-year-old division includes an under saddle class, where 4-year-old horses are evaluated while ridden at the walk, trot, and canter in both directions. They are asked to show their gaits and rideability, and then are stripped of their tack and judged on conformation. The 4-year-old qualifier scoresheets can be found here.

At Championships only, the 4-year-old division will be required to complete a free jumping class. The Championship scoresheet can be found here. Further information on the new division can be found on page 7 in the FEH Rules document.

The yearlings, 2-year-olds, and 3-year-olds will all still be judged at qualifiers and at Championships with the original FEH scoresheet. At Championships, the 3-year-olds will also still be evaluated on their canter and free jump using this scoresheet.

4-year-old horses may choose to compete in qualifiers for the FEH 4-year-olds, and in the YEH 4-year-olds the same year, but they may only compete in EITHER the FEH 4-year-old, OR the YEH 4-year-old qualifiers at any one competition—NOT BOTH. At the end of the season, if they have qualified for both sets of Championships, the owner must choose which ONE they will compete in; they may not do both FEH and YEH.
