Royal Tribute King for a Day at IDHSNA/USEA Future Event Horse East Coast Finals
Royal Tribute, a three-year-old Hanoverian/Thoroughbred gelding (Royal Prince—Firstar), was crowned Grand Champion of the 2009 IDHSNA/USEA Future Event Horse East Coast Finals last Friday at the Virginia Horse Center in Lexington, Virginia by judges Carter Bass (pictured with handler Doug Payne) and Susan Graham White. Owned by Kristen Burgers, the striking youngster also won the Three-Year-Old Colts/Gelding class and the Three-Year-Old Championship, scoring a fantastic 77.35. Complete results. Emily Daily photo.

The three-year-old Oldenburgs dominated the competition, with Royal Tribute taking the win in the Three-Year-Old Colt/Gelding Championships, the Three-Year-Old Overall Championships, and the Overall Grand Championship. The leggy Oldenburg gelding (Royal Prince—Firstar) is owned by Kristen Burgers and scored a commendable 77.35. Though Lauren Seitz’s Oldenburg filly Just About Perfect scored higher in her Three-Year-Old division (taking the win with a 78.65), she had to settle for Reserve Three-Year-Old Overall Champion and Reserve Overall Grand Champion of the show. Lisa Otten’s homebred Oldenburg gelding Grand O Finale was crowned Overall Two-Year-Old Champion, and also took second in the Two-Year-Old Colts/Geldings Championships (pictured left with Otten and judge Susan Graham White). Peter & Diane Halpin’s Hanoverian filly Llangollyn LL took top honors in the Two-Year-Old Filly Championship and the Overall Reserve Championship for Two-Year-Olds.
