Fast Facts: The Event at Rebecca Farm

By Meagan DeLisle - USEA Staff

The Event at Rebecca Farm in Kalispell, Montana, is special in so many ways. Nestled between the Swan and Salish mount ranges, the event’s stunning backdrop paired with its top-notch competition and latest and greatest spectator activities has earned it the moniker of “eventing’s western wonderland.” This year, the event has just over 600 competitors competing across a whopping 29 divisions from Beginner Novice all the way up to the international CCI4*-L. In addition to its CCI2*-L, CCI3*-S, CCI3*-L, CCI4*-S, and CCI4*-L divisions, all eyes will also be on the two USEA Classic Series divisions that the event hosts at both the Novice and Training levels.

The CCI4*-L Field

  • There are six horse and rider pairs who are aiming to bring home the coveted Champion title in the Rebecca Farm CCI4*-L.
  • None of the riders are local to Kalispell. They have all traveled from the following states: North Carolina, Washington, Pennsylvania, Colorado, and Kansas.
  • Three of the horses entered are hoping to complete their first CCI4*-L this weekend: The Pascal Syndicate’s 9-year-old Holsteiner gelding Pascal (Pascal 17 x Z-Corrada I) ridden by Jennie Brannigan, Ashley Adams will be riding her 11-year-old Westphalian gelding Charly (C-Trenton Z x Cora Lou) who she co-owns with Roderick Stuart, and the 10-year-old Westphalian gelding Clooney 14 (Captain Jack x Zauberfee), owned by Annika Asling, will be giving the level a go with Karen O’Neal in the tack.
  • Charly and Adams are coming into the weekend on a win at the Advanced level in June at the Horse Park of New Jersey H.T.
  • Clooney 14 and O’Neal are also well-positioned for a good performance after winning the CCI4*-S just last month at Aspen Farm.
  • The entire four-star long field is made up of geldings ridden by female riders.
  • Five of the six CCI4*-L riders were recipients of the 2024 Rebecca Farm Travel Grants.
  • The ages of the horses competing in this division range from 9 to 13.

The Facts:

  • Andrew Temkin is the technical delegate for the four-star divisions with Cindy Deporter assisting.
  • Gretchen Butts is the president of the ground jury of the CCI4*-L and CCI4*-S and will be assisted by Jury Helen Brettell and Robyn Fisher
  • Ian Stark is the cross-country course designer, assisted by Jay Hambly.
  • Chris Barnard is the show jumping course designer.
  • The CCI4*-L and CCI4*-S are both qualifiers for the $60,000 Adequan USEA Advanced Final that will take place at the USEA American Eventing Championships presented by Nutrena Feeds.
