WindRidge Farm Fall Horse Trials (Oct 2017) Omnibus Listing

TEAM CHALLENGE: Teams consist of four riders competing in the same Division (P,T,N,BN or Starter Division). Write your team name on your entry form.  If you wish to ride on a team but do not have enough riders to form one , please email the secretary and she will help you get on a team. There is no additional fee to compete as a team. Prizes awarded to first place winners of each Division upon the conclusion of this event.
COLLEGE TEAM CHALLENGE: Enter your College Team (may be across Divisions) for the College Team Grand Prize. There is no additional fee to compete as a team. Prizes will be awarded to all members of the first place team.

Directions:
Address: 882 Goodes Creek Church Rd, Mooresboro, NC 28114.  From all directions look for and follow Windridge Farm Signs.
From SC  via I-85 N: Take exit 78 for US 221 North toward Chesnee for 10.3 mi, turn right to continue on 221 North for 5.6 mile.  Turn right onto Island Ford Rd for 1.1 mi, turn left onto Goodes Creek Church Rd for .7 mi.
From Asheville NC take I-26 to US Hwy 74 East then take exit 178 to US 221 South toward Chesnee 7.8 mi,  Make a U-turn to return to make right turn onto Island Ford Rd for 1.1 mi, turn left onto Goodes Creek Church Rd for .7 mi. 
From Charlotte, NC via I-85 S:
take exit 10 B to US 74 West 26.7 mi through Shelby, take exit 189 to NC 120 South 4.0 miles, turn left on US 221 Alt South for 1.0, turn right onto Island Ford Rd for 3.8 miles, turn right onto Goodes Creek Church Rd for .7 mi.

All horses on grounds must be entered or registered as Non-competing.

$195.00; BN/N/T: $180.00; Starter (Intro): $130.00. 
Coaching Allowed Test Divisons: AA-P/AA-T/AA-N/AA-BN, AA/ST: $130
Non-Competing horses: $25.00-must register with secretary and wear a bridle tag at all times while on grounds. 
Stabling: 10x10 stalls with doors on grounds $130.00.
Bedding: $7.50 per bag.
Camping:  $30.00 per night, shower available.
Post Entries (if accepted):  $40 late fee.
Change Fee after Closing Date: $15.00.

Refunds: Before CD-Less $25 non-refundable office fee; After CD- No refund - entry fee applied to any Windridge Farm event within 1 calendar year, unfortunately stabling refunded only if filled by waitlist.
USEA Starter and D&M Fees Refund Policy: The USEA Starter and D&M fees ($21), are not subjected to office fees, and shall be returned within 30 days of the competition to any rider who does not start the dressage test. Competition Cancellation-No refund.

USEA membership and horse registration required at all levels except Starter and CAT. Starter and CAT competitors are exempt from the USEA Starter and D&M Fees and any USEA membership/non-membership fees. If oversubscribed, priority given to USEA members. Negative Coggins current through Oct 8, 2017 must accompany entry. Competitors ride times will be emailed.

Stabling/Veterinarian:

Temporary 10x10 Stabling with doors on grounds: $130 for weekend. No initial bedding.  Please pre-pay for bedding with entry $7.50 per bag.  Enclose a separate $50 stall cleaning deposit. No grounds fee for ship-ins.   All horses on grounds must be entered or registered as Non-competing.  Non-competing horse must pay registration fee of $25 and wear bridle # at all times.  Veterinaran & Farrier: Tryon Equine  828-894-6065     Farrier - On call, # posted with Secretary and on Scoreboard.

Show Jumping:  On grass.
Cross-Country:
P-2900m @ 520 mpm. T-2600m @ 420 mpm. N-2100m @ 350 mpm. BN-1800m @ 350 mpm, max fence height 2'7" may include bank and "pass through" water. Starter Division-approx 1600 m @300 mpm, max fence height 2'3" optional "pass through" at water. Terrain: Rolling fields. All courses: Average, for horses with some experience at these levels.  Cross-country course closed September 10.

Windridge Farms: Coaching Allowed Test (CAT) Divisions: AA-P/AA-T/AA-N/AA-BN, AA/ST
A. Dressage Test – The dressage test may be read aloud to the competitor if necessary. In addition, the coach may give verbal assistance or directives necessary to ensure safety of horse and/or rider during the test without penalty. 
B. Cross Country Test – The cross country course follows the same track and the same set of obstacles as the Beginner Novice division(s) in a horse trials; however, the following is allowed:
1. The competitor has the option of skipping (bypassing) an obstacle on the course. The competitor will be penalized for each bypass. 
2. The competitor is allowed a maximum of 3 attempts per obstacle, after which he must bypass the jump and continue on course. 
3.   The competitor’s coach will be allowed to verbally assist the competitor while the competitor is on course, either for help in direction, speed, encouragement or with instruction on how to negotiate an obstacle if there is difficulty. Any instruction with safety in mind is acceptable. The coach is not allowed to follow the rider around the course on any motorized or non-motorized vehicle. The coach may not come in contact with or lead the horse over an obstacle. 
C. Show Jumping Test: A competitor may receive verbal assistance from the coach who may be positioned outside the ring, which can instruction that pertains to direction, speed, rider position, or any directive addressing safety concerns. A competitor is allowed a total of five (5) refusals on the show jumping course. The competitor is allowed to bypass a fence on the show jumping course.  
See below for penalties and scoring for each phase.
5.  SCORING & JUDGING OF BN[-]AA Tests: 
A. Dressage:  Scoring rules are consistent with recognized divisions. There is no penalty for having the dressage test read aloud.  
B.  Cross Country:  As in non-modified divisions, penalty points in the cross-country are accumulated through faults at obstacles (such as
refusals, runouts, and circles) and time faults with the following exceptions:        
1.  There are no eliminations except for dangerous riding or for fall of horse or rider.       
2.  Faults at Obstacles: 
First refusal,
run-out or circle - 20 penalties
Second refusal, run-out or circle at the same obstacle - 40 penalties
Third refusal,  run-out or circle at the same obstacle – 100 penalties
Bypassing a fence  – 100 penalties       
3.  Time and Speed Faults:
 Exceeding optimum time
- 0.4 penalty point per second
Exceeding time limit- 1.0 penalty point per second 
C. Show Jumping:  Penalty points are accrued through faults at obstacles (such as refusals, runouts or circles) and time penalties as in non-modified divisions with the following exceptions:       
1.  There are no eliminations except for dangerous riding or for fall of horse or rider.  
2.  Faults at Obstacles:
Obstacle knocked  down while jumping - 4 penalties
First  disobedience - 4 penalties
Second  disobedience - 8 penalties
Third – Fifth disobedience – 20 penalties
Skipping a fence  – 20 penalties
After five disobediences - the competitor is excused and given 100 extra penalties  
3. Time Faults: exceeding the time allowed – 1 penalty per second or commenced fraction thereof.
