The USEA office will close at 5:00 p.m. EST on Friday, December 22 and will reopen again on Tuesday, January 2, 2024. The USEA staff will return emails and phone calls when the office re-opens on Tuesday, January 2, 2024 or at their earliest convenience.

The 2023 USEA Annual Meeting & Convention came to a close on Sunday with the final USEA Board of Governors meeting. After the call to order, USEA Senior Director of Membership Services/Meeting Planner Jennifer Hardwick gave a brief overview of the annual meeting. There were 321 attendees and 220 who came to the awards dinner. Next year’s Annual Meeting & Convention will be held in Seattle, Washington, from Dec. 10-15 at the Westin Seattle.

This afternoon, USEA President Louise “Lou” Leslie welcomed U.S. Eventing Association (USEA) Board of Governors members, USEA staff, and USEA Annual Meeting & Convention attendees to the first of two Board meetings which will take place during this year’s Convention in St. Louis, Missouri, with the teaser that 2024 is going to be full of initiatives for more opportunities to access the eventing experience, some of which attendees might get first wind of during this year’s gathering. The 2023 USEA Annual Meeting & Convention takes place Dec. 7-10 at the Marriott St. Louis Grand Hotel.

Each year every member of the USEA receives a nomination ballot to submit nominees to the Board of Governors and during the Annual Meeting of Members, all members are invited to vote for those individuals nominated to serve. All members receive a proxy to vote for their chosen representatives for those unable to attend the Annual Meeting of Members. The only restriction for Board membership is that they must be USEA members. There are 10 positions representing each Area of the country and 11 at-large positions with no other restrictions.

The United States Eventing Association (USEA) Board of Governors (BOG) gathered together in person Aug. 8-9, 2023 for the first in-person meeting of the 2023 season. There were many topics of discussion with the future of eventing in mind over the course of the day-and-a-half gathering.

The United States Eventing Association (USEA) Board of Governors met virtually on the evening of Feb. 23 for the first Board meeting of the year. The focus of the agenda was centralized around one theme: rule change proposals. Following the overview of the December meeting minutes, USEA President Lou Leslie presented a slideshow in memory of James Wofford featuring photos from Wofford’s storied career and quotes from former and current USEA Presidents regarding his impact on the sport of eventing.

Please always remain vigilant when it comes to sending any personal communications via email or text. Every year we receive reports of members and leaders of our sport receiving phishing attempts both online and by phone. These are often communications disguised as being sent from USEA staff or other leaders. As the years go on, the phishing attempts appear to be more directed and tailored.

It has been brought to the attention of the United States Eventing Association (USEA) that there have been issues with mail delivery by the United States Postal Service (USPS) to the USEA office associated with the busy holiday season. There have been numerous reports by members of letters being sent to the USEA office which have not been received dating back to before the Thanksgiving holiday. We are working with the USPS to attempt to address and resolve this situation. Each year, the USEA Annual Meeting & Convention comes to a close with a final meeting of the USEA Board of Governors (BOG). USEA President Lou Leslie kickstarted the meeting by officially calling to order her first USEA BOG meeting as USEA President.
