You attended the workshops, have successfully navigated your assessment, and are now a proud member of the USEA Instructors’ Certification Program (ICP). What benefits do you receive from being a part of this program? What resources can you rely upon for help creating lesson plans and staying up to date with changes in the sport? How will you continue to learn and grow as an instructor?

Seven members of the ICP Faculty met September 23-24 at Phyllis Dawson's beautiful Windchase in Purcellville, Virginia, for co-teaching and continuing education. Faculty members took turns teaching and instructing demo riders/horses in cross-country riding lessons. In an evening session, they talked about risk management and SafeSport as it relates to instructors and how new frangible technology is changing the way horses are trained.

The USEA Instructors' Certification Program (ICP) was formed in 2002 to help instructors equip their students with the essential techniques needed in eventing to be safe and successful. Our prolific ICP faculty (made up of Captain Mark Phillips, David O’Connor, Karen O’Connor, Phyllis Dawson, Mary D’Arcy, Jerry Schurink, Jim Graham, Robyn Walker, Eric Horgan, and Dayna Lynd-Pugh) has cultivated these techniques in the instructors while keeping them on the forefront of the ever-changing sport of eventing.
