Great Meadow International Horse Trials (Jun 2015) Omnibus Listing

Unique spectator-oriented event with substantial prize money, extensive hospitality and entertainment, vendor village and limited entries designed for high performance horse and rider combinations.  The Land Rover Eventing Team PanAm Preparatory Trials will be run in conjunction with this event, contributing to the excitement for the weekend.  Efforts have been made for scheduling to allow riders to compete concurrently at Surefire Farms HT and, stabling for both of events will be available on site.  In addition to the extensive vendor village, tables and tickets are available for a full weekend of hospitality and entertainment.  This amazing venue allows the spectators to see 80% of the Michael Etherington-Smith cross-country course from a single vantage point. GMI is designed to be a showcase event with a wide variety of questions.

Comment: Entries are now open for the Land Rover Great Meadow International CIC3* and Pan American Preparatory Trials. The CIC3* is open to all qualified competitors and is not an invitational. Entries will be accepted until the maximum of 25 entries are received in the order in which they are received by postmark.  Rider are limited to two horses. In the event more than 25 entries are received, the entries from the top ten US riders on the 2015 USEA Overall Leaderboard as of June 1 will receive priority over all other entries regardless of post mark date. Directions:

Address: 5089 Old Tavern Road ,The Plains, Virginia 20198, (540) 253-5000.  Gate #1 is main entrance.  Stabling entrance is at Gate #2.  Follow signs for spectator parking.
From Warrenton/South: Take Rte. 17 North for 8 miles. Turn right onto Old Tavern Road (Rt. 245). Great Meadow Field Events Center is on right.
From Washington/Suburbs: Take I-66 West to The Plains (Exit #31), turn left (South) on Old Tavern Road (Rt. 245). Great Meadow Field Events Center is 1 mile on left.
From Middleburg: Go South on The Plains Road (Rt. 626). Take a right on Rt. 55. Turn left on Old Tavern Road (Rt. 245). Great Meadow Field Events Center is 1 mile on left.
From South/West: Take I-66 East to Marshall (Exit #29). Take Rte. 17 South for 3 miles. Turn left on Old Tavern Road (Rt. 245). Great Meadow Field Events Center is on right.
By Plane: The closest airport to Great Meadow is Dulles International in Sterling, VA. and is about 30 minutes away by car.
By Train: AMTRAK’s Manassas Station is a 30 minute drive from Great Meadow Field Events Center.

Fri: Official Course Inspection 9 AM; Vet examination starting 10 AM; 
Dressage-4 PM.  Eventing Test - Dressage- 7PM (additional class added if entries warrant)
Sat: Show Jumping -
7 PM.  Eventing Test - Show Jumping 8PM
Sun: 
Cross-country -10 AM; Eventing Test - Cross-country - 10 AM; Prizes - 11:30AM or approximately 30 minutes following the last rider, which ever is later.
Starting Times:
Starting Times will be available by Wednesday, June 16th at http://www.greatmeadowinternational.com. Times will be set so as to allow riders to be able to compete in both this FEI competition and Surefire Horse Trials.

Entry:
 CIC3*/Pam Am Prep: $400.00: Entries received after 06/02/2015 will be assessed a $100.00 late entry fee. 
Stabling: $265.00 Thurs through Sat. nights (one check per horse). Stabling for horses entered in Surefire Farms HT will be accepted as space allows at $100 per night.

Refunds: Before C.D.-Full, less $25 office fee. Between C.D. and June 9th, Full less $100 office fee IF  position can be filled from wait list. After June 9th Full less $150 office fee IF  position can be filled from wait list (see Wait List Policy). Checks and credit card charges will be processed upon entry acceptance. Checks not deposited will be voided by the event secretary. Withdrawals must be emailed.
Substitutions: Substitutions may be made as long as substituted horse/rider have a higher ranking than those on the wait list and are subject to a 
$100 fee after C.D.   
USEA Starter and D&M Fees 
Refund Policy: The USEA Starter and D&M fees ($21), are not subject to office fees, and shall be returned within 30 days of the competition to any rider who withdraws before the dressage test. 
Competition Cancellation - Dependent upon Organizers' financial ability. 
Double Entries: Accepted with a $100 additional fee. 
Wait List Policy:  A limit of 25 horses will be accepted for the CIC3*. The top ten ranked US riders shall receive priority over all other entries regardless of entry date. 
All U.S. horses and Riders must be registered with the USEF, USEA, and FEI. Please submit copies of USEF Membership Card for rider, trainer, and owner. 
Entries must use 2015 USEA Three-Day CCI/CIC Entry form. Copy of negative Coggins, within 12 months, must accompany entry. 
Note: Va requires 30-day health certificate for horses entering state.
All CIC3* horses must have an FEI Passport indicating required influenza primary series & boosters.  All horses must have current health certificate. There will be a fee of $50 for returning passports not retrieved at the end of competition. 

Please note: All horses that are stabled on site will be stabled together with 24-hour security. Wristband system employed for ID access to stables at all time. Accompanying horses and those horses entered in Surefire HT who wish stabling must have ID papers and vaccination records indicating required influenza primary series and boosters.

Awards:

Ribbons 1st-8th, or in accordance with FEI regulations.  Prize money: Approximately $30,000 in cash plus prizes. Distribution as per FEI Regulations, Articles 128, 129 & 130.  (CIC prize money paid by check to owner of horse as listed on entry). 

Stabling/Veterinarian:
$265/stall, Thursday AM through Sunday PM or $100/stall/night. Temp. stalls with doors - 11' x 2", 8' in height. One check per horse, please.  Checks and credit card charges will be processed upon acceptance. Checks not deposited will be voided by Event Secretary.  Two bags of shavings are included in stabling fee. Additional bedding available for purchase.  Stall doors provided. Damage fee: Please do not poke holes in the stall panels to hang stall guards. Panels are $300 each, and if damaged, the competitor will be responsible for this amount. 
Please note: All on site horses will be stabled with 24-hour security. Access to stable area will be limited to authorized individuals. Wristband system employed for ID access to stables at all time. 
Please name all persons wishing to stable together. Accompanying horses and those enterd at the Surefire HT who wish to stable must have ID papers and vaccination records indicating required influenza primary series and boosters.

Dressage:
Tests & arena sizes: CIC3*: 2015 FEI Three-star Test A-Std.  Sand ring and sand warm-up.
Cross-Country:

The venue provides terrific viewing of the courses. The terrain is gently undulating and is on the racecourse and permanent grassland. It is designed to be a showcase event with a wide variety of questions. It is anticipated that there could well be a lot of spectators and supporters.  Cross-country course closed and not available for schooling.

CIC3*- 3800m @ 570 mpm. Variety of obstacles: ditches, banks, drops & water. Excellent, irrigated footing, rolling terrain, no rocks.

 

Other Information:
Cross-country course always closed.  
This Event will be run in conjunction with an unrecognized Pan American Eventing Test for the US Land Rover Eventing Team and possibly other PanAm teams.  The Pan Am Eventing Test is open to any rider from any foreign federation who is qualified to compete at the 2015 Pan Am games.  GMI reserves the right to limit entries to riders who are registered to compete.  Dressage Test: FEI ** Test B.  Dressage will run on Friday evening unless the number of entries warrant a separate class on Friday morning.  Show jumping will be 1.20m and run on Saturday evening.  Cross-country will run over a modified CIC*** course on Sunday morning.  Fee is US$400 made payable to Great Meadow International.  Entries due by June 2, 2015.  Entries received after June 2, 2015 will be assessed a $100 late fee.  Email entries to [email protected].  Go to the GMI website to download the entry form.

There will be an attendance fee for all spectators. The pricing is available on the website. This event will be spectator-oriented with an extensive vendor village.  In addition to general admission, patron table seating will be sold for dressage and show jumping subject to availability.  Patron hospitality packages include a Sip and Shop cocktail party Friday night that will take place during dressage, a dinner party Saturday night that will take place before the show jumping with live entertainment afterwards, and a brunch and tailgating on Sunday during cross-country.  Unlike most events, dressage and show jumping will be run in the evening to add to the festive atmosphere.  Other entertainment and events are planned throughout the weekend.
