This week's USEA Podcast features the recipients of the 2019 Wilton Fair Grant and 2019 National and International Developing Rider Grants as well as the 2018 USEA's Eventing Hall of Fame recipients.

Championship season is upon us, and this week we're speaking with the winners from the USEA Young Event Horse (YEH) East and West Coast 5-year-old Championships.

Young Event Horse committee member Debbie Adams joins us on the program this week to discuss her experience with the Holekamp/Turner Young Event Horse Le Lion d’Angers Prize and Grant, which is awarded to the highest scoring horse from the USEA Young Event Horse 5-year-old East and West Championships combined that is qualified as a 7-year-old and willing to compete in the FEI World Breeding Eventing Championships for Young Horses at Le Mondial du Lion d'Angers in France.

​Get to know Erin Sylvester, winner of the 2017 Rebecca Broussard International Developing Rider Grant. Sylvester joins us on the program this week to talk about her plans for the upcoming season, both for her upper level partners Mettraise, Paddy the Caddy, and Campground, as well as her 4- and 5-year-old youngsters.

​The USEA Foundation offers several different grants and scholarships, all designed to assist event riders in reaching their goals. Grant funds are designed to be used for coaching, training, and competing in the pursuit of advancing skills of horse and rider, some with the ultimate goal of representing the United States in international competition.

FEI 4* Eventing Judge and USEF “S” Dressage Judge Marilyn Payne joins us this week to provide some tips and tricks on how to get the very best out of your dressage test. Then listen as Julie Congleton, judge of the Charles Owen Technical Merit award at Cobblestone Farms Horse Trials, breaks down the different judging elements and what she was looking to see from the Training level cross-country riders at Cobblestone.

This week’s USEA Podcast episode is all about the Charles Owen Technical Merit Award. Founded in 2009 by the Professional Horseman’s Council and Charles Owen, the Charles Owen Technical Merit Award is presented to one junior and one adult amateur at the Training level who displays safe and effective cross-country riding technique.
