USEA Celebrates the Life of Molokai 1983-2013

By USEA | December 23, 2013

The United States Eventing Association is celebrating the life of the late classic format champion international event horse Molokai. Purchased by Dorothy Crowell in his four-year-old year with the assistance of her aunt Jodie Ryder Trapp from the Mangione family. Among his many accomplishments with Dorothy he won the individual Silver at the 1994 World Championships, and he was the first USEF National CCI4* Champion at the Rolex Kentucky Three-Day Event. Molokai made it around the world’s most difficult courses including Burghley, Badminton, and Rolex. Molokai, originally named “Surf Scene,” lived until his 30th year. He was sired by the Thoroughbred stallion Hawaii (SAF), and was out of the dam Pretty Copy (USA).

Molokai is considered a model of the classic format event horse, and he will be remembered as a true eventing champion.
