Lexington, KY – Eventing at the 2009 Adequan FEI North American Junior/Young Rider Championships presented by Gotham North (NAJYRC) will continue to thrive under the generous support of the United States Eventing Association (USEA). For the third consecutive year, they will serve as the Title Sponsor of the Eventing Championships.

The North American Young Rider Championships will feature the best Eventers, aged 14-21, vying for FEI medals at the Kentucky Horse Park as part of the 2009 Adequan FEI North American Junior/Young Rider Championships presented by Gotham North.

These Championships will feature both a CCI* for Juniors and a CCI** for Young Riders. Medals will be awarded to the top three teams as well as individuals. Many of the country’s best senior riders came up through the Young Rider Program: Buck Davidson, Sara Kozumplik Dierks, Will Coleman, Will Faudree and Clark Montgomery are just a few of the medalists from NAJYRC that are currently competing at the highest level of the sport.

“The USEA is proud to be returning as a sponsor of the NAJYRC in 2009,” said Jo Whitehouse, USEA CEO. “Not only do these championships open the door to international team competition for our young riders and educate and prepare them for their transition into the senior ranks of eventing, but the values and the skills they gain from these team experiences will serve them well in many facets of their lives in years to come.”

NAJYRC also features Dressage, Reining and Jumping Championships.

The USEA was founded in 1959 with the core purpose of promoting and advancing the sport of Eventing. They are the sports “go to” resource for education, safety, horse welfare, certification, training and information. The USEA strives to be a leader in making Eventing competitions more user-friendly, enjoyable, and efficient. In addition they are the driving force behind the promotion of Eventing as a recognized spectator sport.
