Vesicular Stomatitis Update - USEF-Licensed Competitions Continue During Vesicular Stomatitis Outbreak

As we have learned over the last few years, viruses can impact both human and equine athletes. They constantly evolve and are outside of our control. The U.S. Equestrian Federation (USEF) has been in daily contact with state and federal officials managing the current vesicular stomatitis (VS) outbreak to evaluate risk and determine what measures are necessary to protect the health of our equine athletes through the implementation of necessary biosecurity measures.

USEF Announces Dates and Locations for 2023 USEF Eventing National Championships

The U.S. Equestrian Federation (USEF) is pleased to announce the host locations and dates for the USEF Eventing National Championships taking place in the fall of 2023. The USEF CCI3*-L Eventing National Championship will return to the Maryland 5 Star at Fair Hill in Elkton, Maryland, Oct. 18-22, 2023. The USEF CCI2*-L Eventing National Championship and USEF CCI4*-L Eventing National Championship as well as the USEF Eventing Young Rider Championships (CCI1*, CCI2*-L, CCI3*-L) will take place at the Galway Downs International Horse Trials in Temecula, California, Nov. 1-5, 2023.

Update to USEF Eventing Watch List Process

The United States Equestrian Federation (USEF) Eventing Watch List ("Watch List”) program has undergone a review and, as a result, the process has been updated. The Watch List is comprised of USEF and/or USEA members competing in the U.S. who have been identified as displaying potentially dangerous or unsafe riding during warm-up or any phase at a USEF Eventing Licensed Competition, received an FEI Eventing Recorded Warning or Yellow Card for Dangerous Riding at any FEI event, been penalized at a national competition for Dangerous Riding, or received a Yellow Warning card for Dangerous Riding at a national competition. The goal of the Watch List is to improve rider safety and provide licensed officials (Technical Delegates and Ground Jury) the opportunity to observe athletes at future events.

USEF Announces the Appointment of Hallye Griffin as Director of FEI Sport

The U.S. Equestrian Federation announces the appointment of long-term US Equestrian employee Hallye Griffin as Director of FEI Sport. Griffin will assume the duties of former Director of FEI/High-Performance Sport, Graeme Thom, who has chosen to step away from his role to attend to personal matters.

The United States Equestrian Federation is pleased to announce it is now accepting applications for 2023 licensed official development grants.

USEF members who meet the eligibility requirements and have an active licensed official application may apply, whether they are interested in obtaining their first USEF license or seeking a promotion in their respective breed or discipline.

US Equestrian Announces Modifications to the 2023-2027 U.S. Eventing Calendar for Area VI

Following a review of Area VI community feedback, modifications to the 2023-2027 U.S. Eventing Calendar were recommended by the Eventing Strategic Calendar Task Force to the Eventing Sport Committee, who in turn recommended the modifications to an Ad Hoc of the Board of Directors. Due to hardships demonstrated for qualification under the current structure and criteria, and to limit the travel to achieve those qualifications in the interest of horse welfare, the following modifications were approved to offer the best preparation for high-performance athlete and horses.

US Equestrian Announces Bid Allocation for Week 10 of the 2023-2027 U.S. Eventing Calendar

US Equestrian opened a bid process for one event to host the Advanced level in Area 3 on Week 10 for 2023-2027 due to an event cancellation. The bid process was conducted in accordance with the 2023-2027 U.S. Eventing Calendar CCI4*-L, CCI4*-S, CCI3*-L, & Advanced Policies and Procedures. The USEF Eventing Strategic Calendar Review Task Force made recommendations to the USEF Eventing Sport Committee who made recommendations for final approval by the USEF Board of Directors.

Dressage Phase Concludes at The Dutta Corp. USEF CCI4*-L Eventing National Championship and USEF Eventing Young Rider Championship presented by USEA

The dressage phase concluded on Friday for The Dutta Corp. USEF CCI4*-L Eventing National Championship and USEF Eventing Young Rider Championship presented by USEA (YRC). Competition at The Dutta Corp. Tryon International Three-Day Event ran under a revised schedule due to projected rainfall amounts, with the jumping and cross-country phases reorganized to ensure safe footing conditions. Dressage went ahead as planned, however, and competitors have good weather to look forward to over the next two days.
