The spring semester has officially begun at many colleges and universities across the U.S., which means it is time to kick off the 2024 USEA Intercollegiate Eventing Program’s competition season! As collegiate athletes start making plans for the 2024 USEA Intercollegiate Eventing Championship, which will be hosted alongside the inaugural USEA Interscholastic Eventing League Championship at Stable View in Aiken, South Carolina, on May 4-5, many will be venturing to their local horse trials to brush off the dust and prepare for this epic capstone event.

As the popularity of the program has grown, the number of event organizers that offer Intercollegiate Team Challenges at their venues has increased as well. This year, nearly 40 events have signed on to host team challenges, offering a fantastic opportunity for Intercollegiate members and their teammates to compete together throughout the year.

Since 2014, the Intercollegiate Eventing Program has provided a framework on which eventing teams and individual competitors can continue to pursue their aspirations within the sport while attending colleges and universities across the country. Collegiate athletic programs have been the training grounds for Olympians, professional athletes, and amateur athletes for generations. Enabling students to train in the Olympic sport of eventing is a natural addition.

View the list of Intercollegiate Team Challenges below, and start planning your competition season! Keep in mind that the calendar is a preliminary, tentative list of events hosting Intercollegiate Team Challenges, and it is subject to change. New challenges can be added regularly, so members are encouraged to reach out to their favorite local events to invite them to apply to host an Intercollegiate Team Challenge. Please continue to check here for any updates throughout the year.

About the USEA Intercollegiate Eventing Program

The USEA Intercollegiate Eventing Program was established in 2014 to provide a framework within which eventing teams and individual competitors could flourish at universities and colleges across the country. The USEA offers a discount of $25 on annual USEA memberships for current students at universities and colleges registered as Affiliates with the USEA. Many events across the country offer Intercollegiate Team Challenges where collegiate eventers can compete individually or on teams with their fellow students. In Intercollegiate Team Challenges, each rider’s score is multiplied by a coefficient appropriate for their level to account for differences in level difficulty, and then the individual scores are added together to determine the team score. The USEA Intercollegiate Eventing Championship is a capstone event for the program, which is held annually in the spring. The 2024 USEA Intercollegiate Eventing Championship will be held at Stable View in Aiken, South Carolina, on May 4-5. Click here to learn more about the Intercollegiate Eventing Program.

The USEA would like to thank Bates Saddles, Horse & Country, Kerrits, U.S. Equestrian, WeRideTogether, and World Equestrian Brands for sponsoring the USEA Intercollegiate Eventing Program.
