Farewell Cooper

By USEA | December 15, 2009

Sadly, Jennie Brannigan’s talented partner Cooper succumbed to his battle with laminitis, just one of the many complications after being injured in a freak accident during their Fair Hill CCI3* show jumping round, and the decision was made to humanely euthanize the eight-year-old Dutch Warmblood gelding. During the past few years, Jennie, 22, and the athletic grey gelding took the eventing world by storm, racking up a near flawless record and creating a fairytale partnership. They won an astounding nineteen events, were awarded Adequan USEA Intermediate Gold Cup Champions in 2008 and Reserve Gold Cup Champions in 2009, CCI2* individual and team gold medal winners at the 2008 NAJYRC, and were named to this year’s USEF High Performance B List. They also received the prestigious Jacqueline Mars Training Grant, allowing them the opportunity to travel to England to compete in the Bramham CCI3*. (Erica Larson photo)
