Select Event Group Advances Plans to Organize High-Level Eventing at Fair Hill

Elkton, MD - April 21 - Building on the Fair Hill Foundation’s recent announcement confirming the continuation of high-level eventing at Fair Hill in 2026, Select Event Group announced today that it has assumed the role of lead organizer, bringing together the operational leadership, partners, and community alignment required to guide the event confidently into its next chapter.
Select Event Group has submitted its application to run the CCI3*-L in October 2026, as well as the USEA Young Event Horse competition. In addition, Select Event Group is actively preparing its application to organize and put on the 2027 Maryland 5 Star Event. Together, these steps are evidence of a deliberate approach: ensuring a strong, well-executed three-star this fall while building the operational, financial, and community foundation necessary for the five-star’s return next year.
This work is being advanced in close coordination with the U.S. Equestrian Federation, the U.S Eventing Association, the Fair Hill Foundation, Fair Hill International, the MD Department of Natural Resources, Cecil County, the State of Maryland, and other critical stakeholders. Select acknowledges that successful international competitions of this stature require not only expert execution, but sustained public-private partnership. As Select builds momentum, expands commercial opportunities, and strengthens long-term sustainability, the State’s continued support remains an essential element in maintaining Fair Hill’s place on the global eventing calendar.
Additionally, Select intends to expand opportunities for participation from other regional jurisdictions, partners, and organizations both within and beyond Maryland.
As part of its long-term vision, Select is embracing the opportunity to reimagine the Maryland 5 Star course—honoring its reputation as one of the sport’s most demanding tests while ensuring it remains a destination that inspires confidence to compete at the highest level. Working with legendary course designer Pierre Le Goupil, Select aims to deliver a course that is uncompromising in quality, compelling in design, and capable of drawing world-class participation from across the globe.
“Select is eager to build on the momentum created over the past several years and to thoughtfully broaden what this event can be,” said Alex Corgan, President of Select Event Group. “Our goal is to expand the aperture of supporters and participants—from longtime equestrian fans to new community partners—creating more opportunities for people to engage, contribute, and feel invested in the event’s success. By bringing together a strong team and welcoming all those willing to help make this a success, we believe that we can deliver at Fair Hill an experience that is both world-class in sport and deeply rooted in community.”
As planning moves forward, Select Event Group is committed to partnering closely with Cecil County as host—not only as the home of the venue but as an active collaborator and key partner in the event’s development to date, with the community continuing to share in its economic impact. Efforts are underway to increase opportunities for local vendors, civic organizations, and community groups to participate and benefit from the event, strengthening the connection between Fair Hill stakeholders and the region this incredible property calls home.
“Cecil County is pleased to see the three-star event continue this year, ensuring the tradition of world-class eventing at Fair Hill remains strong,” said County Executive Adam Streight. “We look forward to working with Select Event Group, who understand the importance of including Cecil Countians and local businesses, along with our partners, to deliver a successful 2026 competition and welcome the return of the Maryland 5 Star in 2027.”
Come for the horses. Stay for the experience.
Elite international Eventing will be the heart of the weekend, showcasing the extraordinary partnership between horse and rider that has defined Fair Hill on the world stage. At the same time, Select is thoughtfully exploring ways to broaden the on-site experience, creating a signature fall weekend that welcomes a wider audience with family-friendly activities, local hospitality, and complementary entertainment. Event details—including information about tickets, sponsorships, and experiences—will be announced as they are solidified over the coming months.
Whether visitors arrive drawn by the sport, the atmosphere, or both, Select’s vision is the same: to create an inclusive, engaging experience that honors elite equestrian competition and opens the door to new supporters and future growth.
