The U.S. Eventing Association’s Instructors’ Certification Program invites event riders, instructors, horse owners, and other friends of the sport to attend the Ocala Symposium, Monday and Tuesday, February 18 and 19, at Longwood Farm South in Ocala, Florida. Please join us on both days. Attendance of ICP-certified instructors will earn them ICP Continuing Education credit.

Nutrena, the official feed of the USEA, will be onsite both mornings from 8-9AM hosting a juice and breakfast bar for all attendees. Be sure to stop by their table and get information on Nutrena’s products while enjoying a cup of coffee, juice, and continental breakfast items.

Monday, February 18, 9 a.m. – 5 p.m. British event team coach Yogi Breisner will present jump training.

The current British three-day event team Performance Manager and Chef d’Equipe,Yogi Breisner has held this position since 1999. Please note the excellence of the British event team’s 2012 London Olympics performance! Yogi is a Swedish event rider who rode on the Swedish event team at the 1984 Olympic Games in Los Angeles and who placed four times among the top 10 at Badminton, among other accomplishments. He will work on improving jumping with small groups of riders/horses. With the audience as well as the riders, Yogi will discuss what he sees as he instructs the riders and sets up jumping exercises that are developmentally productive. Internationally respected and accessible, Yogi looks forward as much to his discussion and Q-and-A with the audience as with the riders.

Tuesday, February 19, 9 a.m. – 5 p.m. American dressage judge Linda Zang will present dressage training, and incoming American event team coach David O’Connor will present jump training.

Morning: Well-known, insightful, and clever, American dressage judge and instructor Linda Zang will teach two groups of upper level event riders/horses. As everyone knows who has attended Linda’s clinics, she is so effectively focused – and funny! – that her riders invariably improve themselves and their horses.

Afternoon: Incoming U.S. Eventing Chef d’Equipe and Technical Advisor, David O’Connor will teach cross-country techniques to two groups of upper level event riders/horses. Watch, listen, and ask questions as David describes how to present horses to galloping fences, combinations, drops, water, banks, and ditches.

Daily registration fee: General, $50; ICP-certified instructor or USEF official, $35
2-day registration fee: General, $90; ICP-certified instructor or USEF official, $60

Indicate current competition level of your horse; also, indicate the presenter with whom you would like to ride or, if more than one, your preferred order of choice. Please include your phone number. The fee for a ride is $50.

Directions to Longwood FarmSouth, 10011 NW Hwy 225A Ocala Florida 34482. The farm is just north of Ocala and just west of Highway 75, which runs pretty much north/south on the west side of Ocala. So, traveling north on Highway 75, just north of Ocala go west (left) on rte. 27 or on rte. 326; at NW Hwy 225A, turn north (right); continue driving and pass the Longwood Farm main driveway on the right; turn east (right) onto 110^th Street. Then, continue driving for about 1 mile and watch for the Longwood Farm South driveway on your right labeled Gate Number Five. Turn in there and drive to the parking area.
