Dust off your favorite college t-shirt and get ready to cheer on your school, as the 2023 Intercollegiate Team Challenge season is officially underway! This year, the Intercollegiate Team Challenge calendar features 26 participating events across six USEA Areas. More information regarding the 2023 Intercollegiate Championships will be forthcoming.

Since 2014, the Intercollegiate Eventing Program has provided a framework on which eventing teams and individual competitors can continue to pursue their aspirations within the sport while attending universities and colleges across the country. Collegiate athletic programs have been the training grounds for Olympians, amateur athletes, and professional athletes for generations. Enabling students to train in the Olympic sport of eventing is a natural addition.

View the list of Intercollegiate Team Challenges below and start planning your competition season! Keep in mind that the calendar is a preliminary, tentative list of events hosting Intercollegiate Team Challenges, and it is subject to change. New challenges can be added regularly, so members are encouraged to reach out to their favorite local events to invite them to apply to host an Intercollegiate Team Challenge. Please continue to check here for any updates throughout the year.

About the USEA Intercollegiate Eventing Program

The USEA Intercollegiate Eventing Program was established in 2014 to provide a framework within which eventing teams and individual competitors could flourish at universities and colleges across the country. The USEA offers a discount of $25 on annual USEA memberships for current students of universities and colleges registered as Affiliates with the USEA. Many events across the country now offer Intercollegiate Team Challenges where collegiate eventers can compete individually as well as on teams with their fellow students. In Intercollegiate Team Challenges, each rider’s score is multiplied by a coefficient appropriate for their level to account for differences in level difficulty, and then the individual scores are added together to determine the team score. Click here to learn more about the Intercollegiate Eventing Program.

The USEA would like to thank this year's USEA Intercollegiate Eventing Championships Sponsors: Bates Saddles, FITS, Horse & Country, Kerrits, U.S. Equestrian, and World Equestrian Brands.

The 2024 K3DE Daily: First Horse Inspection

Lights, cameras, action! The first formal horse inspection (which some might informally refer to as "the jog") at the 2024 Defender Kentucky Three-Day Event (K3DE) takes place this afternoon at the Kentucky Horse Park in Lexington, Kentucky. While this part of the event is a fan-favorite historically based on the impeccable turnout of the horses and the stylish and forward fashion choices of the riders (we are looking at you Boyd Martin in hopes that you bring back the American flag suit circa 2022), it serves a very important purpose: ensuring that each horse is fit, sound, and ready to compete at the five-star level.
