Wonderful Weekend for Will Faudree in the Adequan USEA Gold Cup & PRO Tour Advanced Division at Southern Pines

Will Faudree and Andromaque lead the victory gallop in the Advanced division at Southern Pines.

The old adage about the home field advantage held true this weekend in the Adequan USEA Gold Cup & PRO Tour Advanced Division at Southern Pines as North Carolina residents, Will Faudree and Susan Beebee pleased the local crowd with their top placings.

“It’s great being so close to home because we have a lot of local people and sponsors here,” said Will. “And it’s fun when you can deliver to the local sponsors; it makes it exciting.”

Will went into today’s show jumping phase with a pretty good chance of taking home the top prize, but with the pouring rain and tough course designed by Marc Donovan anything could of happened. After Will dropped only one rail aboard Jennifer Mosing’s Pawlow, he was guaranteed the blue ribbon on at least one of his mounts, and when he came back into the ring with Andromaque her clear round was just icing on the cake.

“I am very, very excited for both of them,” said Will. “I had one down on Pawlow, which was totally my fault. I was really happy with him though – he jumped well.”

“Andromaque was amazing. She sounded a bit like Serena Williams over every jump, but I know when she grunts like that she is just going higher and wider. I couldn’t be happier for her, I am just really excited.”

“A huge congratulations and thank you to Jennifer Mosing who owns both of these two horses, it was really exciting to be able to call and say we were first and second.”

For his win in the Adequan USEA Gold Cup Division, Will takes home $750 in prize money, a 7-dose Adequan Gift Certificate, $350 in Nunn Finer Products, a $200 Point Two Certificate, a SmartPak Wellfleet Bridle, and a pair of FITS Breeches.

Susan Beebee and Plan Bee Equestrian’s Wolf stayed securely in their overnight third-placed position with a double clear show jumping round. This is only the pair’s second Advanced, but they are sure to be a force to be reckoned with in the near future.

The 22 horses and riders who completed the Advanced are now qualified for the Adequan USEA Gold Cup Final at the Nutrena USEA American Eventing Championships in Tyler, Texas. The Gold Cup heads out West next weekend for the CIC3* at Galway Downs before heading back East for the CIC3* at The Fork.

The Adequan USEA Gold Cup features 11 qualifying competitions throughout the United States at the Advanced Horse Trials and CIC3* levels with the final at the Nutrena USEA American Eventing Championships September 26-29 in Tyler, Texas. Riders who complete a qualifier earn the chance to vie for $40,000 in prize money in the Adequan Advanced Division and the title of Adequan USEA Gold Cup Champion.

The Adequan USEA Gold Cup Series is made possible through the support of its many sponsors: Adequan; Nunn Finer; SmartPak Equine; Nutrena; Broadstone Equine Insurance Agency, Point Two; Dubarry; and FITS.
