Wash Bishop 1955-2009

Washington D. Bishop of Middleburg, Virginia passed away on May 9th, 2009. Wash was born on September 25, 1955 and grew up in Birmingham, Alabama. He was a loving father to his daughter Annie and her husband Robert Onda.

In 1973 Wash move to Middleburg, VA to ride and train Three-Day Event horses. He was then invited to train with the United States Equestrian Team. He was a member of the 1980 Olympic Team, the 1995 European Championships team, and on the 1996 Olympic short list. He was not only a talented rider and competitor; he was an excellent teacher and coach who passed his knowledge and love of the sport on to his many students.

He is survived by his daughter Annie Bishop, son-in-law Robert Onda, his sisters Becky Johnson, Donna Rodgers and all of those who loved him.

Services will be held on Thursday, May 14th, 4pm at Welbourne, 22314 Welbourne Farm Lane, Middleburg, VA .
