Top Standings Remain Unchanged After Friday Morning Session at Rolex Kentucky CCI4*

By USEA | April 24, 2009

After the morning session on the second day of the dressage at the Rolex Kentucky CCI4* in Lexington, KY, the top seven standings remain the same from yesterday, with Dutch rider Tim Lips leading the field with Concrex Oncarlos with a 42.0.

British riders Oliver Townend and William Fox-Pitt still stand in second and third with their respective mounts Carousel Quest and Navigator.

Amy Tryon of Duvall, WA, shuffled up the standings and moved into the eighth position after posting a very nice ride on Leyland, an eight-year-old Thoroughbred gelding competing in his first four-star event. Though the atmosphere of the packed stadium was a bit unnerving for the young gelding, owned by Elisabeth Nicholson, he settled very well and performed a mature and fluid test to score a 48.8.

Allison Springer of Marshall, VA, cantered her Irish Sport Horse gelding Arthur up the center line for his second Rolex experience in his career, scoring a very competitive 50.2 to leave them in ninth place so far in the day.

French rider Stanislas de Zuchowicz moved into the three-way tie for tenth after posting a 50.3 with his Quirinal de la Bastide.

Missy Ransehousen, who finished third at the prestigious event last year, had a very nice test with her mother Jessica's warmblood-cross gelding Critical Decision, scoring a 50.8 to finish in 13th so far.

Opposition Buzz performed well for British rider Nicola Wilson, posting a 54.7 to take the 15th position. Young Rider Bonner Carpenter and Acapulco Jazz had a lovely test, settling them into the middle of the pack with a 56.7 and 18th slot. Two West Coasters, Barbara Crabo (of Scottsdale, AZ) and Debbie Rosen (of Calabasas, CA) had lovely tests, earning a 57.8 and a 59.5 with their respective mounts Eveready and The Alchemyst. Sara Dierks of Berryville, VA also competed with Somerset, posting a 63.2.

Several other top riders are still yet to compete today including top European riders Bettina Hoy and Ringwood Cockatoo, Lucinda Fredericks and Headley Britannia, William Fox-Pitt and Seacookie, and Nicholas Touzaint and Hildago de L'ile. Many top American riders will be closing out the day as well including last year's Rolex champion Phillip Dutton and Connaught, Jennifer Wooten-Dafoe and The Good Witch, Buck Davidson and My Boy Bobby.
