Yesterday’s riders in the CCI2*/CCI3* at Dansko Fair Hill International set the bar high, but today’s competitors rose to the challenge, shaking up the leaderboard. Rebecca Howard (CAN) and Roquefort (pictured left) were the last to go of the day in the CCI2* but easily trotted into the lead with a 42.2, a good three points ahead of overnight leaders Leslie Law (GBR) and Hugo Fast. In the next ring, Olympic veterans Karen O’Connor and Mandiba performed a very steady test in the CCI3* to take over the lead from John Williams and Sweepea Dean. The Defender U.S. Eventing Team secured a well-earned podium finish in the FEI Eventing Nations Cup CCIO4*-S hosted in Bicton, Great Britain. The team completed the weekend on a team total of 132.9, with Jenny Caras and Sommersby finishing as the highest placed U.S. combination individually in 10th on a 39.4.
