Sinead Halpin and Manoir De Carneville Lead from Start to Finish in the Adequan USEA Gold Cup division at Plantation Field

The Plantation Field International Horse Trial wrapped up under sunny skies with Sinead Halpin and Manoir De Carneville holding onto their impressive lead from start to finish in the CIC3* division. Sinead and Tate finished their cross country run with a double clear, one of only 8 for the day, finishing with a score of 37.8 to win the Adequan USEA Gold Cup division.
Jennie Brannigan and Cambalda also put in a double clear round to hold on to their second place standing, ending on their dressage score of 46.2. And third was Erin Sylvester and No Boundaries, moving up from fourth place, with another double clear to finish on their dressage score of 52.2.
The top 10 pairs ran the cross country in reverse order of standing, making it an exciting finish to the competition. This also meant that the leaders did not have to negotiate the fence 15AB, the first two elements of the water jump, which were pulled after a number of difficulties there, including several horse and rider falls. Although the fence rode fine the previous day, for the Advanced division, the Ground Jury made the decision to remove the fence part way through the 3* division.
Despite the difficulties on course, the rest of the field completed cross country with few jumping penalties, although the majority did incurred some time penalties. The eight riders who managed to get around the cross country with a double clear round were rewarded by significant moves up in the standings and 29 pairs of horses and riders completed the competition.
Not only was Sunday cross country day for all FEI divisions, spectators were also treated to another edition of the PRO Bareback Puissance featuring Tik Maynard, Willie McCarthy and Elizabeth Stewart. With $2,000 in prize money up for grabs, it was a well-fought battle but in the end, Willie McCarthy and I Bella, owned by Tim and Nina Gardner, were victorious.
