One Spun, 34 to Move Forward in Defender Kentucky CCI5*-L

Lexington, Ky.—April 23—The CCI5*-L field was narrowed by one this afternoon following the first horse inspection on High Hope Inspection Lane at the 2025 Defender Kentucky Three-Day Event. Horse and rider pairs were looking their best, with a few horses demonstrating their readiness for the upcoming competition through their flamboyant behavior (we're looking at you Bronte Beach Z and Dyri).

Sadly, one of Jennie Brannigan's (USA) two entries, Twilightslastgleam (National Anthem x Royal Child), owned by Nina Gardner, was sent to the hold box after his first trip down High Hope Inspection Lane. Upon his second presentation, the Ground Jury, which consisted of President Christian Steiner (AUT), Anne-Mette Binder (DEN), and Peter Gray (CAN), opted to not accept the 15-year-old Thoroughbred gelding.

Thirty-four horse and rider pairs will move forward to the first phase of competition starting at 1:00 p.m. EST tomorrow.
