It's officially time for the "Happiest Horse Trials in the World" this weekend! There will be 155 intercollegiate entries representing 16 schools joining forces to create 41 teams to compete in the 2025 USEA Intercollegiate Eventing Championship. Alongside the USEA Interscholastic Eventing League (IEL) Championships for the second year in a row, collegiate members will converge on Stable View in Aiken, South Carolina this Friday, May 2 through Sunday, May 4.
Seven teams will represent the three-time champion Auburn University Eventing Team, who is returning to defend their title from 2024. Spirit Award winners, Randolph-Macon College, will also return in droves with 16 members competing and many more students coming to support their fellow Yellowjackets.
Yet again, the University of Kentucky will earn the title for "Largest Presence" at this year's championship, with 38 entries culminating to form a whooping 10 teams. Texas A&M University will be returning to the event for the first time since 2022. In addition to making the longest trek to Stable View, with over 900 miles of open road in front of them, they've also managed to cover every competing members' expenses, including their entry fees, stabling, transportation, and lodging, through fundraising!

Familiarizing yourself with the key players at each horse trial is an important step to your success at your next competition. One of those important figures is the show secretary. Think of the show secretary as the mastermind behind most of the organizational efforts related to each horse trial. They manage entries, the show schedule, ride times, stabling, and so much more. Without the hard work of the show secretary and their office staff, a horse trial simply would not be able to operate.
The USEA Foundation is pleased to announce a new initiative, the Janet Briggs Fund for the Continuing Education of Licensed Officials. Established in memory of Janet Briggs, this fund honors her lifelong dedication to the sport of eventing by supporting the ongoing education and development of eventing licensed officials.
