The MARS Maryland 5 Star entries have been revealed, and as of Oct. 2, 23 pairs will contest the featured division at the event, held Oct. 16-20 in Elkton, Maryland.
Inaugural Maryland winner Boyd Martin will bring forward three horses; veteran five-star rides On Cue and Tsetserleg TSF, and five-star first-timer Commando 3.
Another Maryland winner, New Zealander Tim Price, will bring Falco for a shot at the win, while Great Britain's Harry Meade will have two rides in Et Hop Du Matz and Away Cruising.
Tamie Smith will come from California on her 2023 Land Rover Kentucky winner Mai Baum for the 18-year-old's swan song, and two British-based U.S. riders, Tiana Coudray (Cancaras Girl) and Grace Taylor (Game Changer) will cross back over the pond to compete.
2024 Defender Kentucky Three-Day Event champion Oliver Townend, of Great Britain, will bring his top campaigner Ballaghmor Class.

It's set to be an exciting weekend as cross-country course designer Ian Stark wraps up his course design career. The event will also host the Dutta Corp. USEA Young Event Horse East Coast Championships and a large CCI3*-L division.

Boyd Martin has always believed in Luke 140 since he came to his barn in 2019. The fiery bay gelding has completed one five-star, in 2023 at Luhmühlen (Germany) where they were fourth, but injuries have meant he’s had to sit out a couple of seasons and miss out on selection for two Olympic Games, most recently in 2024.
