Jump Chute Evaluation at the 2015 FEH East Coast Championship Will Be Optional

By USEA

In the interest of the familiarization for horses and handlers, the free jump evaluation through a jump chute for three-year-olds at the USEA Future Event Horse East Coast Championship is optional in 2015.

The East Coast Championship, which takes place at Loch Moy Farm in Adamstown, Maryland on Thursday, October 8, 2015, will offer the chance for competitors to have their three-year-old entered in the Championship to be evaluated through the chute, but it will not be mandatory. This will act as a “test” for future years and allow for horses, handlers, and judges to become familiar and comfortable with the process.

Both the East and West Coast Championships will be run in the standard FEH format, and will be judged and pinned in those classes only. The East Coast Championship will offer a second class, which is optional to competitors, to send their horses through the jump chute to be evaluated for a score, but will not count toward Championship placings. Please note that the jump chute division will be judged, but will be awarded ribbons and prizes as a separate class.

Those who wish to participate in the separate jump-chute class will be asked to pre-register for the separate class, however the event may accept late entries. It is also strongly recommended to come the day before the Championship on October 7th, at which time Loch Moy Farm is offering a qualifying competition as well as an opportunity to practice in the jump chute.

Loch Moy Farm is also offering a jump-chute clinic on Thursday, July 16, 2015 with Robin Walker and Samantha Allan. The cost for the clinic will be $60 per horse for a 30 minute session, and anyone may audit for $10. For more information, or to register, go here.

Please contact the USEA to learn about more opportunities around the country to practice through a jump chute.
