By USEA | September 20, 2013

Leesburg, VA – September 19, 2013 – The United States Eventing Association (USEA) is pleased to announce that award-winning artist Julie Lawther, a native of Southeast Texas, will present the winners of the Beginner Novice Junior/Young Rider, Beginner Novice Junior 14 and under, Training Amateur, and Intermediate divisions at the 2013 Nutrena USEA American Eventing Championships (AEC) with original portraits of their choosing. Her business, Equine Art by Julie, will also be featured as a vendor in the AEC Trade Fair in Tyler, Texas from September 26-29.

“When Julie Lawther offered to complete original portraits for four of the AEC winners, we were ecstatic! The quality of her work is among some of the best equine portraiture I have seen. Our AEC riders are in for a real treat. While the value of the artwork is substantial, the real value to the recipients will be priceless,” said USEA CEO Jo Whitehouse.

The winners will work with Julie to decide what the life-like portrait of their horse will depict. Each original piece of art will be based on a photo chosen by the winner. Visitors and competitors at the AEC will also have an opportunity to own a unique piece by Equine Art by Julie simply by stopping their booth in the trade fair.

“Having the American Eventing Championships in Texas is special, and I wanted to show my appreciation to the competitors, and the USEA. I am excited to be part of the completion and I believe everyone traveling to the AEC will find that Texas hospitality is second to none,” said Julie Lawther.

About Equine Art by Julie
Julie Lawther grew up in Southeast Texas and exhibited an aptitude in art at a very young age. At age 7, she was enrolled in fine oil painting lessons, studying with Elaine May in Conroe, Texas for 5 years. Julie continued then – and continues now – to self-teach, picking up the additional mediums of acrylic, water color, pencil and color pencil. Julie’s love for animals, especially horses, has led her to many careers in the horse industry. Her background as a trainer, riding instructor, farrier, and equine veterinary technician has given her insight into many equine disciplines, breeds and anatomy. Now she combines her experience and knowledge of horses with her artistic talents to create works of art. The equine art led to creating works of many other animals as well as people.
