Fast Facts: 2022 USEA Annual Meeting & Convention

USEA members from near and far are getting ready to converge on the historic city of Savannah, Georgia this week for the 2022 USEA Annual Meeting & Convention! With four full days jam-packed with educational seminars, committee meetings and social gatherings, the convention is sure to excite all members of the eventing community that will be in attendance. The USEA Annual Meeting & Convention will be hosted at the Hyatt Regency Savannah Hotel this year, and we have all of the information you need to know to make the most of your experience!

  • When: December 7-11, 2022
  • Where: Hyatt Regency Savannah Hotel, Two Bay Street, Savannah, Georgia, 31401
  • There will be 21 educational seminars, 15 open forums, and 34 committee meetings on the schedule.
  • This year’s convention features two tracks for attendees to follow, each with their own unique content: Track A and Track B. View the whole schedule with meeting descriptions and speaker information here.
  • Stop by the Mezzanine from 7:30 A.M. to 9:00 A.M. on Thursday through Sunday for a continental breakfast, courtesy of Rebecca Farm.
  • Special Events:
    • The Show Jumping Building Seminar on Wednesday, December 7 from 9:00 A.M. to 5:00 P.M. will kick-off convention week. Pre-registration is required and can be purchased for $75 per person under “Event Tickets” here.
    • The USEA Board of Governors will meet on Thursday, December 8 at 2:00 P.M. and Sunday, December 11 at 9:00 A.M. in the Regency Ballroom A. All are welcome to sit in and hear what is currently taking place on the USEA agenda.
    • The USEA Board of Governors will host a Welcome Reception on Thursday, December 8 at 6:00 P.M in the Harborside Regency Ballroom of the Hyatt Regency Savannah Hotel for all convention attendees.
    • Hosted by Jimmy Wofford and Jim Wolf, the USEA Year End Awards Luncheon will take place on Friday, December 9 at 12:00 P.M to celebrate the hard work and accomplishments of our members throughout the year in Regency Ballroom A-F. Awards cocktails will begin 30 minutes prior to the luncheon in the Mezzanine Lobby.
    • The Event Riders and Officials Town Hall will be on Friday, December 9 at 6:00 P.M. Former USEA President Kevin Baumgardner will moderate as members of the Eventing Licensed Officials Committee and the ERAofNA Committee conduct a panel discussion with topics relative to the sport in Regency Ballroom A-F.
    • Join Area III as they extend their southern hospitality by welcoming all USEA members to Savannah during the Area III Welcome Reception on Friday, December 9 at 7:30 P.M. in the Scarborough 4-5 room.
    • The USEA Annual Meeting of Members Luncheon and Keynote Speaker Presentation will be on Saturday, December 10 at 12:00 P.M. in Regency Ballroom A-F.
    • The FEI World Championships Riders Recap will take place on Saturday, December 10 at 2:00 P.M. in Regency Ballroom A-F. The silver medal winning Team USA, consisting of Ariel Grald, Will Coleman, Boyd Martin, Lauren Nicholson and Tamie Smith, as well as Chef d'Equipe Bobby Costello and Max Corcoran will discuss their experience at Pratoni.
    • The USEA's Eventing Hall of Fame Gala will cap off the exciting weekend on Saturday, December 10 at 6:30 P.M. The USEA is proudly presents the 8th edition of the USEA's Eventing Hall of Fame induction gala. This year, five new inductees will join this esteemed group of eventing legends: Janie Atkinson, Col. Harry Chamberlain, Trish Gilbert, Sally O'Connor and Eagle Lion.

There were surprisingly few shakeups to the top of the leaderboards Friday at the MARS Bromont CCI, but the incredibly close scores leave no margin for error heading into Saturday’s exciting cross-country phase across all five levels.

Fast Facts: 2023 USEA EA21 Regional Clinics

Tomorrow, the first of five regional clinics for the USEA Emerging Athletes U21 (EA21) Program kicks off in the central region of the country in Benton, Louisiana, at Holly Hill Farm. Throughout the summer, the remaining clinics on the East and West Coast will follow. At each clinic, 12 hand-selected riders will participate in a two-day clinic led by USEA Eventing Coaches Program (ECP) coaches. The purpose of the EA21 program is to create a pipeline for potential team riders by identifying and developing young talent, improving horsemanship and riding skills, and training and improving skills and consistency. The intention is to provide young athletes with access to an added level of horsemanship and riding skills to further their training and skill development with greater consistency.

After the first day of competition, Canadian Olympian Colleen Loach and her horse FE Golden Eye lead an international field in the CCI4*-L division of the MARS Bromont CCI.
