2016 NAJYRC Cross-Country Preview

Young Riders from across the country have flocked to Parker, Colo. for the 2016 Adequan/FEI North American Junior and Young Rider Championships, presented by Gotham North (NAJYRC). Competition kicked off yesterday as the Canadians took the early team lead for the CICY2*, and the CH-J* riders will have their turn in the sandbox today.
James Atkinson is the course designer this weekend, and he’s definitely laid out a championship-caliber track. An advanced level rider himself, Atkinson is also known for courses at Copper Meadows and Twin Rivers Ranch.
This track showcases the prairie terrain as it travels across the stunning Colorado landscape. “I gradually inherited this course from David O’Connor and it’s been a very exciting project. I wanted to get the Colorado feel back into the course and we’ve developed and improved the footing in those specific areas to ensure that happened,” said Atkinson in an interview last month. “This course is incredibly unique to this facility and as a course designer I tried to make some of it my own, with a vision for what I’d like it look like in the future.”
