Virginia Horse Trials has recently been purchased by Andrew Bowles of New Zealand from Brian and Penny Ross. Brian and Penny are retiring but will continue to run a series of schooling shows in USEA Area 2. At the rider meeting at the Virginia Horse Center last night, Andy recognized the Ross's accomplishment with Virginia Horse Trials over the last quarter century and announced his intention to maintain the tradition and quality of the event. Andy has been an FEI 3/4 star Technical Delegate for over 20 years and will be moving from New Zealand to Virginia in the coming months.

The Olympic Games kick off this month in Paris, France, and the U.S. Eventing Team has sent three strong horse and rider combinations plus a traveling reserve. We caught up with all four team riders to learn more about them.
The Defender U.S. Eventing Team moved up nearly five places on the leaderboard in the SAP-Cup throughout the three phases to ultimately clinch a well-deserved second place finish. The team completed on a final combined score of 123.7, behind Great Britian, who secured first on a 112.8. Ireland finished in third with a final score on 138. This is the second year in a row the team has secured a second-place finish at CHIO Aachen in the CCIO4*-S.
The USEF Eventing Young Rider Championships wrapped up at the Maryland International with an exciting show jumping finale today. In the end, three mares topped the individual podiums at the one-, two-, and three-star levels, and in the team competition, clear rounds were not easy to come by over Chris Barnard’s courses, making for a nail-biting finish.
