VIDEOS: 2009 Convention - USEA Safety Studies Review

On Friday, December 4, 2009 USEA Convention attendees packed the conference room at the Hyatt Regency in Reston, Virginia, to listen to the Review of USEA Safety Studies. USEA Hall of Fame Inductee and USEF President David O’Connor delivered a detailed analysis of data collected by tracking trends in accidents on course throughout the year. Dr. Suzanne Smith, PhD, P.E., a professor of mechanical engineering at the University of Kentucky, followed to address developments in frangible pins and deformable fence technology. Next up, John Staples provided an in-depth review and history of the GPS Speed Study, while Dr. Catherine Kohn wrapped up by reviewing the Cardiovascular Research, including the recent study conducted at the Plantation Field Horse Trials in September.
