US Equestrian announces a substitution for the Defender U.S. Eventing Squad ahead of the 2026 FEI Eventing World Championships. Phillip Dutton (West Grove, Pennsylvania) has formally withdrawn Possante, who will now be replaced by Dutton’s other mount, Denim.

Dutton wrote on his Facebook page:

"Unfortunately, Possante has come up with an injury in training. He will heal well but not in time for the WEG. My huge condolences to Impy and all of his owners! We were really clicking well.It has been an emotional roller coaster of a week to say the least, as, fortunately for me, Denim was then selected as Impy’s replacement. I’m really excited still to be a part of the U.S. team in a very special venue at Aachen."

The team of four and individual rider will be decided closer to the event.
