USEF Announces Defender U.S. Eventing Team for 2024 FEI Eventing Nations Cup Ireland CCIO4*-NC-S
Lexington, Ky.—May 28—The United States Equestrian Federation has announced the athlete-and-horse combinations who will represent the Defender U.S. Eventing Team at the FEI Eventing Nations Cup Ireland CCIO4*-NC-S at the Millstreet International Horse Trials in County Cork, Ireland, May 29-June 2. The team will be led by Chef d’Equipe Leslie Law.
The following combinations have been named to the Defender U.S. Eventing Team and are listed in alphabetical order.
- Jenny Caras (Buckhead, Georgia) and Sommersby (Sergeant Pepper x D’Mademoiselle), a 12-year-old Holsteiner gelding owned by Jenny Caras and Jerry Hollis. Groom: Max Corcoran
- Emily Hamel (Aiken, South Carolina) and Corvett (Corrido x Tina XII), a 17-year-old Holsteiner gelding owned by Black Flag Option. Groom: Jenna Epping
- Caroline Pamukcu (Springtown, Pennsylvania) and King’s Especiale (Connect x Cha Cha Cha Special), a 9-year-old Dutch Warmblood gelding owned by Redfield King’s HX Group. Groom: Chloe Teahan
- Alyssa Phillips (Fort Worth, Texas) and Oskar (Coriando x Nicole), a 15-year-old Holsteiner gelding owned by Julie and Alyssa Phillips. Groom: Meigs Rutherford
Individual: Molly Duda (Menlo Park, California) and Disco Traveler (Donatelli x Cadence), a 15-year-old Oldenburg gelding
Competition Information
Competition in the Nations Cup will begin with the dressage phase on Thursday, May 30, and Friday, May 31. Jumping will take place on Saturday, June 1, and the competition will conclude with cross-country on Sunday, June 2.

USEA Names Athletes for 2025 EA21 Regional Programs
The United States Eventing Association (USEA) is delighted to announce the selection of athletes for the 2025 USEA Emerging Athlete U21 Program (EA21). Members of the USEA Young Rider program who are aged 21 and under are eligible to participate. The EA21 program aims to establish a pipeline for potential team riders by identifying and nurturing young talent, enhancing horsemanship and riding skills, and fostering consistency and improvement for the next generation of elite event riders.

A Confidence-Boosting Event at the Twin Rivers Spring International
The Twin Rivers Spring International showed that there isn’t just one right answer when preparing your horse. The CCI4*-S served as a qualifier in the US Equestrian Open of Eventing, but before the $200,000 finals at Morven in Virginia, on Oct. 9-12, seven of the 11 horses were competing in their final prep before the approximately 2,300-mile haul to Lexington for the Defender Kentucky Three-Day Event in two weeks.
