Yikes, where has the time gone? It seems like we just arrived in Florida and now it is time to think about heading back to sunny NJ. But first we have some work to do! Poplar Place and The Fork fill up our next few weeks as we speed closer and closer to Rolex. I received our entry confirmation email, it's official... Lexington here we come!
Big Events seem to have this gravitational pull which draws all of your thoughts, focus, and emotions towards it. How can one week in the end of April can seem so far away yet so close? I know it sounds cliche, but it truly amazes me. Rolex is over a month away.. plenty of time, right? Not so! When you break it down to gallops that need to be done, it is not long at all!! Throw a few horse trials in the mix and it is crazy. Then add lessons in to what needs to be accomplished and my head begins to spin. Ahhhh! Good thing I don't have many teeth left to grind! ;-)
Red Hills has come and gone. Questie ran in the Intermediate and I was reasonably pleased with our weekend. A dressage test that had moments of great improvement and to quote Roger Haller "moments of discontent". A very tactful way of saying naughtiness I think! Cross country was just what the doctor ordered. He was settled and professional throughout, even during a hold on course. I really worked on riding out of a rhythm and letting the turns and jumps set him up. We had some time, but for our second run since Rebecca Farm last year I was very pleased. Show jumping started out rusty, but improved quickly as we went on for only 1 rail. Ready for the next step!
Time to start sweating over every tiny detail of each school. How to find every possible advantage. Hopefully these thorough evaluations will not occur in the middle of the night when I should be sleeping!
So onto Poplar Place in the Advanced then to the Fork CIC3*. A few weeks to put the finishing touches on and finally it will be time...the Big Deal.. Rolex. Here we go!
