On Dec. 12-15, the United States Eventing Association, Inc. (USEA) will be relocating to Area VII for the 2024 USEA Annual Meeting & Convention in Seattle, Washington! The Emerald City is known for its culture, cuisine, and coffee, as the birthplace of Starbucks, and it will serve as the perfect backdrop for a week centered around horse and rider safety. The USEA Annual Meeting & Convention is hosted annually to allow our dedicated USEA members and supporters to discuss, learn, and enjoy being surrounded likeminded individuals, and this year’s event is set to be another exciting opportunity to bond over the sport.

Annual Meeting & Convention forums and activities will take place at The Westin Seattle, downtown’s most dynamic hotel with stunning skyline views. The Westin Seattle is in the heart of the city, just steps from the famed Pike Place Market and Seatle Convention Center. In addition to its prime location, the hotel boasts spacious rooms and suites, signature Heavenly® amenities, and stunning floor-to-ceiling Seattle skyline views. Click here to reserve your room at The Westin Seattle today.

There are an abundance of activities and sightseeing to enjoy in Seattle, but here is a list of just a few of our favorites for members to enjoy:

  • The Space Needle, Seattle’s most iconic landmark, was constructed for the 1962 World’s Fair and stands at 605 feet tall. Click here to purchase your tickets to take a tour to the viewing deck at the top of this amazing monument!
  • Pike Place Market, also known as “the soul of Seattle,” is one of the oldest and largest continuously operating public markets in the United States and is brought to life by the hundreds of farmers, crafters, small businesses, and residents that call it home. Click here to learn more.
  • Take a ride on the Seattle Great Wheel.
  • Visit Mount Rainier, an active volcano that stands as the most glaciated peak in the contiguous U.S. Click here for more information from the National Park Service.
  • Located next to the Space Needle, you can take a tour of the Chihuly Garden and Glass, a museum dedicated to showcasing the studio glass of Dale Chihuly. Click here to plan your visit.

If you plan to fly to this year’s convention, the Seattle-Tacoma International Airport (SEA) is the most convenient option for air travel and will get you approximately 22 minutes from the hotel. Domestic and International flights are serviced through Seattle-Tacoma by familiar airlines like American, Delta and Delta Connection, United, Frontier, Jet Blue, Southwest, Alaska Airlines, Air Canada, and British Airways.

If you’d prefer to take ground transportation, the train may be a great option. Five different train routes service Seattle’s King Street Station, which stops just south of downtown.  Sound Transit’s Sounder commuter train spans from Everett, north of Seattle, to Lakewood, south of Tacoma.  Amtrak has three routes: Coast Starlight travels between Seattle, Portland, and Los Angeles; Amtrak Cascades travels between Vancouver, BC, Seattle, Tacoma, Portland, Salem, and Eugene; and the Empire Builder travels between Chicago, Minneapolis/St. Paul, Spokane, Portland, and Seattle. Rocky Mountaineer offers a high-end travel option between Seattle, Vancouver, BC, and the Canadian Rockies.

Once you’re in town, the iconic Seattle Center Monorail can get you from Westlake Center downtown to the Seattle Center at the base of Queen Anne Hill. Trains depart every 10 minutes during regular operating hours from 7:30 a.m. to 11:00 p.m. on Monday through Friday, and from 8:30 a.m. to 11:00 p.m. on Saturday & Sunday. Schedules, information, and FAQs are on the Seattle Center Monorail website. In downtown Seattle, Lyft, Uber, and metered taxis offer in-city transportation from local drivers. All rides can be scheduled using smartphone apps. Finally, visitors can rent vehicles by the hour from  Zipcar or by the minute from GIG Car Share if you’re interested in venturing further out into Washington State.

Thanks to the 2025 USEA Intercollegiate & Interscholastic Eventing Championships Supporters!

The 2025 USEA Intercollegiate & Interscholastic Eventing Championships were an incredible success, ushering the programs forward as the first standalone championships knock on the door for 2026. The Intercollegiate and IEL Programs were merged for their year-end championships to ensure that the USEA’s junior and young adult members have a goal to continue to pursue their passion for eventing throughout their educational years and beyond, and the support the event has received in the last two years has been astounding.
