Second Horse Inspection at Rolex Kentucky Leaves Thirty-Seven Horses to Show Jump

By Caroline Culbertson - USEA Staff | April 27, 2014

Thirty-seven horses will continue on to the show jumping phase of competition at the Rolex Kentucky Three-Day Event.

Thirty-nine pairs remained in the competition after yesterday’s cross-country phase, and two horses were withdrawn before the final phase. Colleen Rutledge and Shiraz, who were in 23rd place overnight, withdrew from the remainder of the competition after being sent to the hold box in this morning’s second horse inspection. Phillip Dutton chose to withdraw his third-placed horse Mr. Medicott and did not present him at the jog.

Marilyn Little and RF Smoke on the Water were sent to the hold box, where the event’s Associate Veterinarian Dr. Catherine Kohn, V.M.D., looked over the gelding thoroughly. The pair jogged a second time and was accepted.

Show jumping is set to begin at 12:30 p.m., following the retirement ceremony of the celebrated Trakehner stallion, Windfall.
