Curious as to if you are ready to make the move up to a new level before the 2025 season ends? Now might be a good time to refresh your knowledge of the regulations set aside for each level as outlined in Appendix 3 of the USEF Rules for Eventing. Each level has approved dressage tests, jumping efforts and heights for both cross-country and show jumping, max distances, max speeds, and more. Below, we have outlined Appendix 3 as of today's publishing date, but know you can always easily access the most current version of this document via the USEF Rules for Eventing.

Text has been taken directly from the USEF Rules for Eventing with emphasis added by the USEA.

As noted by the chart, water crossings are outlined in EV145 Cross-Country Phase Obstacles as follows:

4. WATER CROSSINGS.

a. The bottom should be firm and consistent. Water crossing that which are considered to be an Obstacle
must be marked at the entrance.

b. The maximum depth of the water must not exceed 35 cm.

c. The minimum width of any simple water crossing flagged as an Obstacle must be 6 m, between entry and
exit, except where an exit step(s) or Obstacle is jumped directly out of the water, in which case the
minimum length must be 9 m.

d. In water crossings involving Obstacles, the minimum distance between obstacles must be 9 meters. In
all water-to-water Obstacles, there must be a minimum of 6 m of water before the Obstacle.

e. At the Beginner Novice level, water crossing must be straightforward, Obstacles are not permitted.

If you are competing at the Starter level, you can find those regulations here.
