Ok, quick update since it is 10:30 pm, and the Area V grooms are feeding at 5:30 am…
The two days of dressage have been rocking for Area V! Jacob started off the 2* dressage with a bang, scoring a 57.2 and placing 9th out of 20. The Area V clan of almost 50 riders, grooms, coaches, and parents were all there watching Jacob, and there was some tears and major cheering! It was quite exciting, as Jacob has never scored under 60 at an FEI competition. Of course he would have loved to be under 50, but giving how the end the class scored, he was very pleased!
Emma went next and had a very solid test to score a 60.7. I was busy taking care of Falcon after his dressage so I did not actually see the test, but Area V was happy with our second score of the rotation. Kendyl Tracy, our teammate from Area 9, had a beautiful test to score a 54.5. Even more exciting, our final rider, Rowdie Adams, tied Kendyl. They finished tied for 5th, and Area V & IX is in second after dressage behind Area III by 4.2 points. Look out tomorrow, hopefully we’ll be moving up!
Thursday evening Jacob’s family cooked out for all of Area V! It was super great! All the dads had fun grilling beef tenderloin, and all the kids ate on the ground and then went with Mike and some of the parents to watch a $25,000 Grand Prix in the Rolex Stadium. We certainly had a blast watching some very good and very entertaining rides! Mike said we received a riding lesson from Mclain Ward, who had both of his horses in the 4 horse jump off, and ended up 1st and 2nd! Talk about exciting!
Friday proved to be a super day for Area V! We are in 1st after dressage as a 1* team for the first time in at least 6 or 7 years! Avery went first and scored a very solid 56.9. Tori then went and had a lovely test except for a spook and flying change, and ended up with a 53.7. This held the lead for quite a while, but she ended up 4th. Taylor, our individual, had a super flowing test and got a 56.6. Alexa’s test was a bit sluggish and she was a bit disappointed, but it still scored a 60, still put her in the middle of the pack. Alyssa went last and had a technically correct test to score a 51.7 and end up lying 2nd! We are so happy with the team and can’t wait to see what tomorrow brings!
They had a good jump school this afternoon, practicing a few lines in the show jumping like they might see tomorrow. Hopefully, they feel very prepared and ready to rock!
