Middle Tennessee Pony Club to Host Two USEA Young Event Horse Qualifiers at Historic Percy Warner Park

The Middle Tennessee Pony Club (MTPC) is excited to host two USEA Young Event Horse (YEH) qualifiers at historic Percy Warner Park in Nashville, Tennessee. Mark your calendars for the MTPC Spring YEH Qualifier on Saturday, April 4, and the MTPC Fall YEH Qualifier on Sunday, Sept. 13 and compete at the home of the country’s oldest horse trials.
"As a United States Pony Club graduate A from MTPC, Advanced level eventer, a granddaughter of horse breeders, and an amateur breeder, myself, I am personally thrilled to make the YEH program more accessible in our area," said organizer Margo Goldfarb. "In just the second year of bringing the program to the Middle Tennessee area, the response from riders and trainers has been very encouraging, with lots of interest in learning more about the program."
The MTPC is fortunate to work with course designer Jon Wells, who has designed both the recognized and unrecognized events run by the club for many years and consistently creates educational, horse-friendly courses. The goal is to provide a well-run event that supports the long-term development of young horses and makes the YEH pathway more accessible for riders in the area.
"Whether you're aiming for the YEH Championships or just want to give your young horse a positive experience, we can’t wait to see you in Nashville," said Goldfarb.
About the USEA Young Event Horse (YEH) Program
The Young Event Horse (YEH) Program was first established in 2004 as an eventing talent search. Much like similar programs in Europe, the YEH program was designed to identify young horses aged four- and five-years-old, that possess the talent and disposition to, with proper training, excel at the uppermost levels of the sport. The ultimate goal of the program is to distinguish horses with the potential to compete at the four- and five-star levels, but many fine horses that excel at the lower levels are also showcased by the program.
The YEH program provides an opportunity for breeders and owners to exhibit the potential of their young horses while encouraging the breeding and development of top event horses for the future. The program rewards horses who are educated and prepared in a correct and progressive manner. At qualifying events, youngsters complete a dressage test and a jumping/galloping/general impression phase. At Championships, young horses are also evaluated on their conformation in addition to the dressage test and jumping/galloping/general impression phase.
