Michael Pollard Leads at Lunch Break in Kentucky

By Caroline Culbertson - USEA Staff | April 24, 2014

After the first fifteen dressage rides at the Rolex Kentucky Three-Day Event, Michael Pollard has taken the lead on his American Thoroughbred gelding, Mensa G.

Despite the chilly and breezy conditions, the 16-year-old gelding (Colonial Affair – Fire the Secretary) laid down a quiet and obedient test in his first Rolex appearance. The pair competed at the Pau CCI**** in France in 2013, but are already having a stronger showing this weekend, and are one of only two to break into the 40’s so far, with a score of 49.5.

Hot on his heels is Will Faudree and Jennifer Mosing's Pawlow, who are trailing in second place by a fraction of a point (49.8). This pair, who finished sixth at this event last year, did not quite beat their 2013 dressage score of 47.2, but are expected to put on a strong performance for the remainder of the weekend.

In third place are Marilyn Little and RF Demeter with a 51.3, followed by William Fox-Pitt and Seacookie TSF (51.5) and Sinead Halpin and Manoir de Carneville (51.7).
