Laura Collett and Rayef Take The Lead At Badminton

By USEA | April 22, 2011

The first day of dressage at the Badminton CCI4* has ended and Laura Collett and the 12-year-old gelding of unknown breeding, Rayef, sit in the lead on a 36.5. Laura is only 21 years old and is contesting her first Badminton. Rayef was her Junior and Young Rider European champion. When describing her test, she said she tried to go into the ring, "build the four walls of my own school around the arena and ride like I do at home.” The only North American to compete today was Hawley Bennett-Awad and Gin & Juice, the pair are currently sitting in 12th on a 50.2.
