John Williams and Sweepea Dean Trot Into the Lead at Fair Hill CCI3*

By USEA | October 16, 2009

Though they were one of the last rides of the day, John Williams and his 10-year-old Canadian Thoroughbred-cross gelding Sweepea Dean shrugged off the chilly showers and buckled down to perform the best test of the day in the CCI3*, earning a 42.6 in this first day of the dressage. Erika Treis Petersen and Under The Influence sit in second with a 45.4, while Laine Ashker and Anthony Patch are close behind with a 46.0. Leslie Law (GBR) and Hugo Fast set the bar high as the first ride of the day in the CCI2* with their 45.3, while three top riders also earned sub-50 scores: Kristin Schmolze & Ballylaffin Bracken (48.1), Kelli Temple (CAN) & Veelion (48.3), and Jennie Brannigan & Cambalda (48.3). Friday welcomes the rest of the competition in both divisions, and hopefully sunnier skies. Emily Daily photo. Complete results.
