In Memoriam: Nadeem Noon

Nadeem Noon, 1961 – 2015
The USEA is saddened to hear of the passing of Nadeem Noon who died on November 12, 2015 at the age of 54. Nadeem suffered from a rare and serious disease called Amyloidosis, a condition which severely affected his heart, lungs and other vital organs. Nadeem was moved to hospice care on Tuesday, November 10th in an effort to make him as comfortable as possible. Nadeem is survived by his wife Sherry and his son Nadir.
Nadeem had a lifetime of passion for horses and was a well-known and well-loved trainer in Area VIII. He had experience professionally in Dressage, Jumpers, Hunt Seat and Eventing. He competed through the CCI3* Level in Eventing as well as the Prix St. George in Dressage. Nadeem coached a multitude of students for over 30 years, and he was a Level 3 USEA Certified Instructor. Nadeem also received his British Horse Society Assistant Instructor certification in England at the age of 18. Nadeem taught the Indiana University Hunt Seat Team for over 20 years. Alongside his wife, Sherry, Nadeem was based out of Up-N-Over Stables in Bloomington, Ind.
Last December, Area VIII recognized Nadeem’s service to the sport by surprising him and his wife Sherry with a trip to the USEA Annual Meeting and Convention in Fort Worth, Texas. At the Year-End Award’s Dinner, Nadeem was given the Cornerstone Instructor’s Award. This award is given to the grassroots instructor who for 20 years or more has taught good horsemanship skills and the love of the sport to the next generation of eventers.
Nadeem’s family, posted this message on Facebook regarding his passing:
“We regret to inform family and friends that at approximately 10:30pm Thursday night we lost our beloved Nadeem. He was and will continue to be an inspiration to many, be they his students, his family and his friends. Nadeem would spend many hours on Facebook and truly loved you all. We would often hear him celebrate with loud yelps of joy about how he just got a new friend request or about how many friends he had on Facebook. If we remember anything, remember that he won his battle against his illnesses when he made the decision to go to Hospice. He chose to be in comfort with his family and somehow he knew it was time for the next chapter. While at the Bloomington hospital he was asked if he would like to meet with the Imam (religious leader) for a prayer and he replied “that would be nice.” In his last hour he left our world listening to surah Yasin which we think gave him comfort along with the love of his family and the great efforts made by the nurses at Hospice. Nadeem loved many things in this world but the love he had for Sherry and Nadir was limitless. More than anything in this world he cherished his son for whom he would do anything. If you see Nadir you will see Nadeem in his stature, his face and his eyes. Thank you all for your love and support and know that he too had much love for every one of you. Nadeem will be taken to Pakistan to be buried in his family burial plot. There will be a memorial service in Indiana. May God bless Nadeem, forgive his sins and grant him welcome in Paradise. Amen.”
Nadeem’s memorial service will be held at a later date and time to be announced.
The USEA sends our condolences to Nadeem’s family and friends during this difficult time.
