How to Register a New Horse through the New USEA Portal

July 24, 2025

In our next "how to" series installment, the United States Eventing Association, Inc. (USEA) will give you a glimpse of our new, modernized Online Member Serivces Portal, which will be launching later this summer, by teaching you how to register a horse in the platform. There's more than one way to register a horse with the USEA, so the following steps will cover how to renew an existing horse registration and how to create a new horse registration.

1. In these instructions, we’ll guide you step-by-step through how to register a horse under your account. Before creating a new profile, it is important to check whether your horse already exists in the system.

2. You can search by the horse’s name or registration number. Click “Search” to see if the horse is already in the database.

If it exists, you can request access.
If it doesn’t, you’re ready to create a new horse profile.
Click “Add a New Horse.”

3. Start by filling out the horse’s name.
Then, select whether your horse is registered with a breed registry.

If so, choose the appropriate registry from the list.

4. Every horse must have at least one Owner and one Admin.

You can assign people who are already under your account.
Simply select a name, choose their role—like Owner, and click “Add.”

5. If you need to add someone who isn’t under your account yet, no problem.

Enter their first name, last name, and either email or USEA number.
Click “Search” to see if they have an existing account.

If they don’t, click “Add a New Person” to create a profile.

6. If the system doesn’t find a match, you’ll have the option to create a new profile for that person.

Click “Add a New Person” to create a profile.

7. Then assign the appropriate role—for example, Rider—and they’ll be linked to the horse.

8. Once all the necessary information has been filled out for the person and for the horse, you can continue with the registration process.

9. Next, fill in all required information about your horse, including:

  • Breed
  • Primary contact
  • Registry info, if applicable

Fields marked with a red asterisk are mandatory.

10. The system will now suggest a registration option based on your horse’s details—like Full Registration for a Weanling.

11. At this stage, you can:

  • Add additional registration options,
  • Add another horse,
  • Or just click “Continue” to move forward.

12. You’ll now be redirected to your cart.

At the top right, you’ll see a summary of your order.
On the left, you’ll find the details—including registration, activation, and membership type.

If your billing address hasn’t been entered yet, you can add it here.
Then, enter your credit card details and click “Submit & Complete.”
