Flora Lea Horse Trial's organizing committee regretfully made the decision to cancel their September 24th event. The President of the ground jury and TD inspected the course and grounds on Fri morning and then again midday. After seeing how much the footing deteriorated in such a short time and how many fences needed to be pulled for safety sake it was a unanimous decision. Four wheel drive was needed just to get on the property making it worrisome for emergency vehicles
The cross-country courses at all levels were the best ever with 14 new fences built this summer. Stadium was painted, decorated, and set Dressage rings in place with footing prepared (before the rain)
As most riders realize it is a very involved and expensive venture to produce a quality competition. It takes a full year to put it together and the expenses of courses, equipment, toilets, officials, awards, programs, golf carts, food, registration, printing, etc is there before the show begins
We are working on ideas of how to compensate the riders.
Our first idea-
October 2 we will offer a competition experience. Cross-country and show jumping will be available to school or ride as a course. Prizes will be given for closest optimum time.
