Eventing Symposium Featuring Tamra Smith to Benefit Amy Barrington Recovery

On September 21 and 22nd, Next Level Eventing’s Tamra Smith will head to Sandy, Utah to teach during the USEA Area IX Eventing Symposium. The symposium is the first in what Black Dog Eventing’s Erin Hofmann hopes will become an annual event.

In addition to small group lessons with Ms. Smith, riders and auditors will participate in Pilates and yoga sessions to start each morning, and will spend lunch learning about topics such as equine sports medicine. Saturday evening will feature a reception hosted by sponsor Grand Meadows Equine Supplements.

On September 4, 2013, fellow eventer Amy Barrington suffered a traumatic brain injury while schooling at home. While Amy’s North Carolina farm is a staple in Area II, she touched many lives during her years as an Area X eventer, and her smiling face was well known at events throughout the west.

Black Dog Eventing, in conjunction with Next Level Eventing, is pleased to announce that proceeds from the weekend will go to toward the Amy Barrington Recovery Fund. Ms. Smith will donate her time, and encourages other coaches to give back similarly.

“Eventing is such a tight family. The outpouring of support so far has been amazing. I think we can all give a little of our time to make sure one of our teammates and her family are taken care of,” said Tamra.

Auditors are encouraged to attend all events during the symposium; one hundred percent of the $25 per day audit fee will go toward the Fund.
Saturday night’s Grand Meadows reception will feature a silent auction. Current items up for bid include a RevitaVet Infrared Technology System, an entry to the world famous Event at Rebecca Farm, a Fleeceworks saddle pad, and many more!

Donations above and beyond the clinic and audit fees are certainly welcomed and encouraged!
