Leesburg, VA – September 6, 2013 - Entries have steadily rolled in for the 2013 Nutrena USEA American Eventing Championships. As of September 5th, the USEA had received over 410 entries from competitors planning to travel from 35 states and as far away as Washington state and Maine. International riders Olympians Leslie Law (GBR), Clayton Fredericks (AUS), Kyle Carter (CAN) and Hawley Bennett (CAN) will also be getting in on the action, and 4 continents in total will be represented. All riders qualified for the Championships were notified on September 5, 2013 of the AEC closing date on Tuesday, September 10th. If you have already entered, or are interested in seeing who will be competing at the AEC, you can easily check the status of entries online.

In addition to hundreds of junior and amateur riders, some of the biggest names in eventing will be present, including Jon Holling, Kristi Nunnink, Rick Wallace, and Laine Ashker. Current U.S. Eventing Team coach, David O’Connor, is also expected to be on hand. Texas native Avery Klunick, 20, will also take a shot at the top prize of the event in the Adequan USEA Gold Cup Championship with her horse In It To Win It.

Riders located west of the Mississippi River will be better represented at the AEC than at any time in its 10 year history. This increase in representation is due in large part to the central location of the Texas Rose Horse Park in Tyler, TX. As Adequan USEA Gold Cup Advanced Championship qualifier Kristi Nunnink from Auburn, California stated on a recent podcast with Chris Stafford despite her anticipated 30 hour travel time to Tyler, Texas “I am excited that it is close enough.” She also stated that “I have always loved Mark Phillips courses.”

The cross-country course will feature 48 brand-new jumping obstacles along with new galloping tracks that take advantage of the rolling terrain. The highly-anticipated course is designed by Captain Mark Phillips, course designer for a multitude of international events including the British National Championships of Eventing, and built by Bert Wood, a well-known course builder from Temecula, CA.

Entries close on Tuesday, September 10th. Get the details and enter with Xentry in USEA Online Services.
