Dressage Day 1 is Done at #AEC2025

Temecula, Calif.—Aug. 27—The first day of the USEA American Eventing Championships presented by Nutrena Feeds kicked off at Galway Downs with 10 divisions at Preliminary, Modified, and Training level.

Bates USEA Open Preliminary Championship
The Bates USEA Open Preliminary Championship set the tone early, with standout rides in the dressage arena to kick off the exciting championship week ahead. James Alliston (San Ramon, California) and Arnell Sport Horses’ 8-year-old Dutch Warmblood gelding, Made by Leontine EB (Casago x Jackpot E.R.), delivered a strong test to head into cross-country in the lead with a score of 25.2.

Bates USEA Preliminary Amateur Championship
Hanni Sreenan of Hood River, Oregon, and Ebenholtz, Amy Haugen’s seasoned 18-year-old Hanoverian gelding (Ehrentusch x Levantine), danced their way to the top of the Bates USEA Preliminary Amateur Championship leaderboard with a 27.0 in dressage, heading into tomorrow’s cross-country in the lead.

Bates USEA Preliminary Rider Championship
Paige Beauchamp Crandon (Redwood City, California) and her own 9-year-old Irish Sport Horse mare Fyfin Ramiro (Ramiro B x The Classic Porsch) sit atop the Bates USEA Preliminary Rider Championship after dressage, earning a 25.8 from judges.

USEA Modified Amateur Championship
The USEA Modified Amateur Championships kicked off today with judges Robyn Fisher and Tiffany Silverman putting Emma Slocum (Redwood City, California) and Patito in the lead on a 32.5. Owned by Slocum, Patito (Pointilliste x Coevers) is a 12-year-old Irish Sport Horse.

USEA Modified Open Championship
Temecula-based professional Kaylawna Smith-Cook and Ruth Bley’s 9-year-old Hanoverian mare Remember Me (Radisson x unknown) only had to travel across the street to lead on a 28.7, though the top three groupings are tight.

USEA Modified Rider Championship
Studying to become a commercial pilot, Marilyn Schackner flew into the lead with her own 9-year-old Zangershiede gelding, Georgie Z (George Z x Peggy). The Auburn, California- based pair will start cross-country on a 28.2.

ARMA USEA Training Amateur Championship
Hollister, California’s Leah Forquer has set herself up as the one to catch heading into tomorrow’s cross-country phase of the ARMA USEA Training Amateur Championship on a 20.1, with Michael Tobias’ 8-year-old Hanoverian gelding Favorit Ask (Favorit Ask x Hauptstutbuch).

ARMA USEA Training Horse Championship
With a 23.2 in dressage, Santa Barbara-based young professional Audrey Sanborn and her 5-year-old Dutch Warmblood mare, Parel Van Der W (Impressive VDL x Kalysha Diola V), set the pace in the ARMA USEA Training Horse Championship and will look to carry that momentum onto cross-country.

ARMA USEA Training Junior Championship
Dallas, Texas, rider Lilian Pham piloted her own 9-year-old Thoroughbred mare (Flat Out x Western Sarah) Lilitu Ladybug to a 27.1 in the ARMA USEA Training Junior Championship to sit atop the leaderboard after dressage.

ARMA USEA Training Rider Championship
Isabella Rega, of Salinas, California, and Blurred Lines continue their winning ways at Galway Downs, leading on a 24.8. The 15-year-old Irish Sport Horse gelding of unrecorded breeding is owned by Adrianna Kosmont.

About the Adams Horse Supply USEA Adult Team Championships
The Adams Horse Supply USEA Adult Team Championships, which debuted in 2014, is the capstone event for the USEA Area Adult Team Challenges, providing adults the chance to compete as a team and represent their Area of the country in a friendly and fun environment. Historically, adult riders had three regional Team Challenges in which to compete with fellow adults in a team environment, with the locations changing each year. In 2013, the USEA Adult Rider Coordinators voted to move to support Adult Team Challenges taking place in all 10 Areas across the country, with the finale being the ATC at the USEA American Eventing Championships presented by Nutrena Feeds. Each Area can send up to eight teams from Starter Level to Modified Level to the ATC.
